I once had a priest tell me that early Catholicism was not so much about religion as it was about "crowd control". If you trace the history of it you find he was right.

Jesus had a couple main commandments and those are the backbone of Chrisitanity: love one another, that is referring to fellow Christians, and love your enemy.Actually Jesus' two main commandments were love God and love one another:
Mark 12:28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?" 29 "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor? as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

My favorite is this gem:
"Religious leaders have said that the U.S. should murder foreign leaders."
Mr. Blind, The world through your eyes is scary. You know way more then the Pope. Are you infallible in these teachings of yours? You condemn people by telling a story about how Christ forgave a person caught in adultery. Condemnation through an example of forgiveness ... glad you could join the "Religious Leaders."
Does this make your teachings by definition bad because you stand before others and condemn people. Or maybe you should put away your stones and walk off.

They bless the murder of other humans, purportedly to bring about the coming of Christ. Cite? Or do you just get off on bearing false witness?
