Rockford, Illinois Bishop Says Dem’s “a clear and present danger” to US survival as a nation”

ROCKFORD, August 16, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Abortion, buggery, contraception, divorce, euthanasia, radical feminism, genetic experimentation and mutilation, are the seven “sacraments” of “one” US political party says the Bishop of the Catholic diocese of Rockford Illinois.

While stopping short of telling his flock how to vote, and without naming the Democrats by name, Bishop Thomas George Doran wrote in a column in the local diocesan newspaper that these “unholy sacraments of our secular culture are the seeds of the destruction of our nation.” He said that the continuance in office of those espousing them represent a “clear and present danger” to the survival of the US as a nation.

Bishop Doran, leader of the Rockford diocese's 418,891 Catholics exhorts voters to “think for yourself” and ask, “what nation that kills its young, perverts marriage, prevents new life, and destroys the family, kills those deemed useless, makes the war of the sexes into a real war, and manipulates the genetic basis of human nature, can long endure?”

He writes that while looking “askance” at the German people for their historical role in the deaths of 50 million people during the Nazi period, we in North America have blinded ourselves to the deaths of 40 million of unborn citizens since 1973. “No doubt,” he says, “we shall soon outstrip the Nazis in doing human beings to death.”

He describes a slippery slope that begins with toleration of the killing of “the tiniest innocents among us,” and leads to habituation to violence in other forms. “we have allowed these barbaric practices to corrupt our laws, our medical practice, and even our ordinary lives.”

He lists toleration for sexual perversions, “widespread contraception, easy access to “no fault” divorce, the killing of the elderly, radical feminism, embryonic stem cell research” as things that “defile and debase our human nature and our human destiny.”

Nope, he didn't. My town is in the Rockford diosece, and though I'm not Catholic I have a great deal of respect for Doran.

I'm not sure "bloody twit" was name calling, I think it was more of a technical description.

You lucky man. Well, Christians like you deserve a Bishop like him. He will be in my prayers.

So, I guess there won't be any snide remarks about who made him Bishop....

Terri Schiavo ordered starved to death under the watch of Rep. Florida Governor Jeb Bush; devoid of moral capital necessary to stop that heinous ruling.

And that means that a mjor focus of the GOP is killing the elderly and disabled, right? Just like My Lai means every soldier is a mass murderer and Abu Ghraib means they're all perverts, and John Wayne Gacy is proof that everyone who paints clown porttraits is a child molester...or are you willing to admit that Jeb's conduct has nothing to do with the thrust of the GOP platform and agenda?

And why not for voters in other states? Congratulations and God Bless to Bishop Doran for his clear, no-nonsense words.

Well, I pinged my prolife list...

Ok!

So.......when do the excommunications begin?

If he's serious he'd make his parishioners show their party affiliation before receiving the holy eucharist. ;^)

Me too but the Signatura, like all courts religious or secular, grinds much more slowly than the most egregious of sinners (like Weakland) can move into autocrime mode. He was once the head of the Benedictine Order and did great evils in Rome, then the worst Vatican representative this nation will ever suffer (Archbishop Jadot) saw to Wakland being installed as Archbishop of Milwaukee to ruin what was left by his predecessor (Archbishop Cousins???). At least, the Benedictines figured it out. When the lavender mad monk of Milwaukee finally had to retire, his original Benedictine Monastery told him he could not return to the monastery. He apparently lives in segregated facilities in St. John's Diocesan Seminary in Milwaukee, hopefully with no access to seminarians, innocent or otherwise.

Whether he repents or not, eternal justice is a lot more swift and quite permanent.

bornacatholic: I don't deserve Bishop Thomas Doran as my bishop but God loves me and.... Actually, I got him the old-fashioned way: Mrs. Elk learned about his virtues about 7 years ago when we lived in Connecticut. Naturally, we put our house up for sale, packed up the furniture, fled Connecticut and came here. The weather isn't as nice as Florida. The politics is a lot worse, although at least I have Don Manzullo as my Congressman instead of Rosa (Emily's List) DeLauro. OTOH, what a bishop! Real estate available at reasonable prices. Tridentine Masses at various Churches with general permission from Bishop Doran to all of his priests. Great young priests. He ordained about ten this year for this small diocese and there are more than forty seminarians in the diocesan pipeline.

On the Sunday after 9/11/01, Bishop Doran confirmed about 150 kids at a regional confirmation at St. Patrick's Church in Rochelle, Illinois. He told the congregation in his sermon in direct reference to the Islamofscisti: "There are those who think that it doesn't matter which religion you belong to so long as you believe in God. They should remember that the 9/11 hijackers were NOT atheists......"

"Brave man, but suspect that the governor of Illinois will soon try to remove the diocese's tax exempt status."

I often wonder how many punches we pull, how many times we shy away from the unvarnished truth, how many times we make little deals with evil in order to keep that tax exempt status.

"If he wasn't a bishop, I would suggest he run for office!"

He doesn't need to. All he needs to do is inspire other orthodox Catholics to run for office instead. Oh, and perhaps start using the "e" word with regard to so-called Catholic politicians who support infanticide.

Congratulations my FRiend. Looks like you might have gotten a gem.

Given that we're in the midst of a Dem bashing thread, I think I might just keep my head down and watch.

Something for your ponderment though before I dash off. The American public is more or less evenly split between the R's and D's. It's pretty much a draw. The R's win one, the D's another. So how does our C side win given that the percentages of R versus D seem fairly static?

;-)

Political and intellectual bureaucrats show depression, passivity and perplexity in their actions and in their statements and even more so in theoretical reflections to explain how realistic, reasonable as well as intellectually and even morally warranted it is to base state policies on weakness and cowardice.

There is an unmistakable union in theme with Solzhenetsyn's Harvard address.

So long as we no longer mired in Lincolnism and so long as we understand which forms of "contraception" are actually abortifacient.

Lincolnism?
