Tickets for the final curtain call of the Theatre of the Absurd's 9-year run of 'The Griswold Monologues', followed by the world premier of the one-woman play 'Ascension of Mrs. Shori' will soon be available!

I suggest that everyone request a pair of tickets and either:

     a) not show up, or

     b) show up with black arm bands.

Personally, I am leaning towards 'b'.

Here are the details:

Requests must be mailed to: The Office of the Presiding Bishop, 815 Second Avenue, New York, NY 10017. They must be mailed and be postmarked ***no earlier*** than August 15, 2006. Tickets will be distributed on the basis of when requests were mailed (not received).

I wonder if the National Cathedral ever finished "refurbishing" the Lee and Jackson windows.

Gee, it's a good thing they haven't needed to refurbish the Darth Vader or Kermit-the-Frog statues.

(In fairness, such statues are "grotesques," or artistic waterspouts, used artistically to represent scaring away evil spirits. They are such objects, which, when used as drainspouts, are called "gargoyles." "Groteque" comes from "grotto," meaning "cave," whereas "gargoyle" comes from gargulio, meaning "throat," or "gullet.")

I found it a neat experience to visit a Gothic cathedral with central heat and air. Last time I went to the National Cathedral was almost 10 years, ago, I guess - I went to a Christmas concert when I was visiting my parents.
