Paul knew that the earthly temple in Jerusalem was no more of interest in the kingdom of Christ. That what matters was the "third temple" which was the body of Christ being raised up even in that and continuing until He returns. "If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are." (1 Cor. 3:17)

Furthermore, we have Acts 15:13-18, referencing Amos 9:11,12. James says that after the Lord takes a people for himself out of the gentiles, He himself will rebuild the tabernacle of David, and as He said aforehand, He prefers the tabernacles not built with human hands.
