Great quote:

"If there were any word of God beside the Scripture, we could never be certain of God's Word; and if we be uncertain of God's Word, the devil might bring in among us a new word, a new doctrine, a new faith, a new church, a new god, yea himself to be a god. If the Church and the Christian faith did not stay itself upon the Word of God certain, as upon a sure and strong foundation, no man could know whether he had a right faith, and whether he were in the true Church of Christ, or in the synagogue of Satan."
-- Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, First Protestant Archbishop of Canterbury

Indeed!

Man's adding on turns what was original Christianity, the Bible into a comfortable counterfeit. It is the reason many, who claim to be Christian, get so nasty. They prefer man's words over God's Word.

Yes, there is much truth to what you say. A "traditional" worship service does show respect. Hopefully it is in the heart/mind as well. As for "contemporary" worship - it's pointless. Most people dress better for work than they do for church and it's not that dress is everything but it does show RESPECT. Today people roll in with jeans etc.. and very casual in their "worship" of dumbed down songs. It's the same words over and over and over again. Hymns have depth and substance. Perhaps as people have become more dumbed down and distant from God this pleases THEM more rather than trying to praise Him.

The "Praise Bands" sound like secular rock concerts. There is nothing soft or reverent about them. Again, it is the "church" trying to conform to the world. We are warned against this:

Rom.12:2

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

For these kinds of churches it has become a numbers game. Touchy, feely crap that has no substance. It's a club like atmosphere with Rick Warren books pushing a works driven salvation. It's too bad ministers and pastors lack the you know what's to stand firm on what God has said through the Bible.

I do have to say that I really enjoy and respect sharp theological thinking and writing.

Both the quote and the supporting response are very siccinct and very "thoughtful" in the highest meaning for that word.
