Good morning...may I suggest a small contest for those on our ping list..to post nominations for the "absolutely dumbest" statement to come out of CG2006..
Has anyone noticed yet the water is washing over the quarterdeck?
Okay, my nominations for today: how 'bout Frank's hedgehog comment this morning taking Clement of Alexandria out of context:
Most people, he wrote, are enclosed in their mortal bodies like a snail in its shell, curled up in their obsessions after the manner of hedgehogs. They form their notion of Gods blessedness taking themselves for a model.Or how about this:
It has been said that unawareness is the root of all evil. Think about it: what crimes are committed and disordered actions condoned because people like ourselves hold on tenaciously to their partial truths and refuse to expand their limited understandings.Classic Griswoldian. And yet another Grizzy-speak:
Love is never an abstraction. Love is expressed in action and webs of relationships. Therefore, I find myself reflecting upon our General Convention and these days in Columbus as an opportunity for God's love to break loose among us and find expression not only in what we decide but in how we receive and listen to one another. This is an opportunity for us to experience together once again that the truth we seek is larger than any one point of view. The unfathomable riches of Christ who is the truth exceed our capacity to comprehend them in all their fullness. Over time more and more is revealed by the Spirit who draws from Christ's truth and makes it known to us.
Is he asking us to meet him somewhere out in the middle of the field of being and non-being?
Yes, in the holiness of silent listening.
. . . but I'm not so interested in it that I can sit through pages and pages of Foggy Frank's blather. That would be like walking through the wrecked cars reading the promotional literature . .. I prefer to keep a little distance.
ROFLOL!
What AnAmericanMother said in #9! She puts it beautifully. Me, I'm not quite so elegant in my wording - by me, trying to read through Gizzley's bloviating shuck and jive is like trying to get one's foot out of quicksand.
Here's the GC06 logo:
Doesn't it just invite you to spray some Roundup on that clump? Ahh, the parody potential....
LOL! Ain't it the truth!
