Father John Corapi's Faith Quiz
fathercorapi ^ | Fr. John Corapi

Posted on 06/11/2006 5:35:15 AM PDT by NYer

Give yourself this interactive test, which is not an advanced examination, but very basic one. Any child preparing for Confirmation should be able to earn a grade of 80% on this. Take the exam honestly, without looking up the answers, then take appropriate steps to advance your faith. You should be able to answer these questions easily and without reference or a book. A minimum grade of 80% would indicate that you are on the right track, but not there yet. 100% is what excellence is all about. Make a commitment to learn your faith! Live what you have learned with perfection, then we'll be able to turn the tide of evil and make the world a better place.

Father John Corapi is what has commonly been called a late vocation. In other words, he came to the priesthood other than a young man. He was 44 years old when he was ordained. His experiences prior to ordination have been termed simply astounding, but that is probably somewhat of an overstatement. They might be called extreme, however.

From small town boy to the Vietnam era US Army, from millionaire businessman in Las Vegas and Hollywood to drug addicted and homeless, to religious life and ordination to the priesthood by Pope John Paul II, to a life as a preacher of the Gospel who has reached millions with the simple message that God's Name is Mercy!

Father Corapi's academic credentials are quite extensive. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University in the seventies. Then as an older man returned to the university classrooms in preparation for his life as a priest and preacher.

He received all of his academic credentials for the Church with honors: a Masters degree in Sacred Scripture from Holy Apostles Seminary and Bachelor, Licentiate, and Doctorate degrees in dogmatic theology from the University of Navarre in Spain.

Father is a perpetually professed priest member of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (S.O.L.T.).

100%.

Other than a mention of Vatican II, it didn't get into anything in which reformational christians would have disagreement with you-all Church of Rome people.

100% but I had to think about a couple of the answers before I chose the correct ones.

90% here, new Catholic. I was pleased to see the statement about original sin. Had a huge disagreement with one of the priests at our RCIA church (very liberal)-- who evidently thought original sin would hurt people's feelings and so had chucked it -- who forever after called me 'the fundamentalist.' Such an honor.

He's fantastic. I wanted to go to sleep late last night but couldn't stop watching him (on ETWN).

who forever after called me 'the fundamentalist.'

As a sponsor I had a dispute with an RCIA team member about the necessity of sacramental absolution for serious sins before receiving the Eucharist. I showed it to him in the Catechism and he looked at the footnote and saw it referred to the Council of Trent. His response was, "But, it's so old!"

Grrrrr!

From that point on I felt free to pipe up whenever they were getting too squishy about what the Church actually teaches.

I scored 100% and didn't know I was Catholic either. Didn't seem to be much to disagree with from this Evangelical.
