Prayer and Meditation: At An Acceptable Time

Psalm:

God is a righteous judge,
and a God who has indignation every day.
If a man does not repent,
God will whet his sword; he has bent and strung his bow;
he has prepared his deadly weapons,
making his arrows fiery shafts.

Psalm 7:11-13

Scripture Readings:

Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.

"Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.  If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;  But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

Isaiah 1: 16-20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.  He who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.  Revelations 3: 20-21

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,  and crying out with a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb!"

And all the angels stood round the throne and round the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen."

Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, clothed in white robes, and whence have they come?"

I said to him, "Sir, you know."

And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night within his temple; and he who sits upon the throne will shelter them with his presence. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

Revelations 7: 9-17

For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation." Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.  1 Corinthians 6:2

Meditation

O Lord,
let us hear your voice today,
soft and smiling,
gentle, sincere,
clear,
angry or sad,
today
in the minutes you have gifted us with,
in the time
which is a tribute to you,
of the room
you have give us
to maneuver in
now,
while time makes sense,
and we are wrapped up in potential
and possiblity
and reality.

O Lord,
your voice echos in and out
of the winds,
surrounding us with their gentle singing,
stinging us with the intensity of their truth,
soothing us with the beauty of your love.

O Lord,
let it enter our hearts, NOW.
let it enter our minds NOW
let it pierce through the daylight
and bloom in our midnight
and soften us,
and enwrap us in the reality of your love
until we become the ones
you long to transform us to.

O Lord,
let us not harden our hearts,
save us from the desert of our own bitterness,
our own hate,
our own sin,
our own anger,
our own loathing
our own Meribah,
our own Massah,
lost in the darkness,
never to know your rest,
alone,
always,
out of time.

O Lord!

O come, let us sing to the LORD;
let us make a joyful noise
to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the LORD is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it;
for his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.

O that today you would hearken to his voice!
Harden not your hearts,
as at Mer'ibah,
as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
when your fathers tested me,
and put me to the proof,
though they had seen my work.
For forty years I loathed that generation
and said, "They are a people who err in heart,
and they do not regard my ways."
Therefore I swore in my anger
that they should not enter my rest.

Psalm 95

A movement of the Spirit? I was just getting ready to post this:

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all mysins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the helpof Thy grace, to cnfess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen

Lord, have mercy on us.
----Christ have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us.
----Christ graciously hear us.
God, the Father of heaven,
----have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
----have mercy on us.
God the Holy Spirit,
----have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, one God,
----have mercy on us.

To all those who choose to misunderstand your word,
Be merciful, O Lord.
To all those who thinking to preserve dignity, choose evil over good,
Be merciful O Lord,
To those who try to twist your word to make their points seem holy,
Be merciful O Lord,
To those who declare your Spirit is leading them to declare your word wrong,
Be merciful O Lord,
To those who declare your Spirit is leading them to declare some sins as good,
Be merciful O Lord.
To those who lead others astray to validate their sins,
Be merciful O Lord.
To those who injure others in your name,
Be merciful O Lord.
To those who betray the trust of those in their charge,
Be merciful, O Lord.
To those who bring scandal that turns others away from you,
Be merciful O Lord.
To those who try to make you seem little and weak,
Be merciful O Lord.

Have mercy on those who persecute your followers,
Open their hearts, O Lord.
Have mercy on those who choose death saying it is better than life,
Open their hearts, O Lord.
Have mercy on those who lead others astray after convincing themselves what they want is holy,
Open their hearts, O Lord.
Have mercy on those who think supporting the right of death is not contrary to your will,
Open their hearts, O Lord.
Have mercy on those who think that by harming others, they are doing your will.
Open their hearts, O Lord.
Have mercy on the self-deluded,
Open their hearts, O Lord.
Have mercy on the angry,
Open their hearts, O Lord.
Have mercy on those injured by others and who turn away from your light.
Open their hearts, O Lord.

From those who call darkness light,
Good Lord, preserve us.
From those who would hurt others in your name,
Good Lord, preserve us.
From those who would lead our children astray,
Good Lord, preserve us.
From those who twist truth to validate their actions,
Good Lord preserve us.
From those who use your name to do the wrong they want,
Good Lord, preserve us.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world,
Spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world,
Graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.

Let us pray:

O God our loving Father, you who sent your only begotten Son to this sad world so that we might have life, and that abundantly, you know the hearts of man, in our good and in our bad, in our folly, and when we use the wisdom you send us. Be with us all, and remember us in your mercy. Open the hearts of those of us who do wrong, have mercy on those under persecution, and may we be willing always to see the light of your truth for what it is, and not be snared by the counterfeits of the enemy.

We ask this in the name of Jesus our Lord and Savior, Amen.

O Lord be gracious to those we love as Thou hast been so gracious to us! Pour out your mercy like spring rain! Like righteousness spring up from the earth! Let justice smile down from the cross upon those we have witnessed to who have not yet received our testimony. It is the Name of Jesus that makes us bold to ask. In Him we hope ever for the salvation of family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and our enemies for whom we pray. Hear our prayers, O Lord, and answer according to Your LovingKindness, Your hesed. Amen.

O Jesus,
You who are our mercy,
look upon us, Lord,
and salve all the hurts this day that need healing,
those whose lives are shattered by unrepentant sin,
those whose lives are shattered by the sins of others,
those whose lives are shattered by events beyond their control.

O Lord,
You know the truth of
all the griefs that need mourning,
all the anger that needs calming,
all the violence that needs your peace.

Lord,
As your touch in life healed the blind,
may your touch open our eyes to the message you give us,
to the truth of your love.

Have mercy on us,
and may each of us who call you Master
be channels of your mercy,
this day and always,
Amen.

Amen, and we Agree in Prayer for the Souls of Every Lost Person Upon this Earth. We Long for the Fulfillment of Thy Word, "for the Earth shall be Full of the Knowledge of the LORD, as the Waters Cover the Sea." May Many Flock Beneath Thy Wings, our God Who Loves and Who Saves. We Adore You, our King, as we Worship Your Excellent Majesty, amen.

(Thank you for this Beautiful Devotional, Dear Knitting!)

O Lord,
in this world filled with anger,
and greed, and hurt, and loss,
help me to see
my role in all the pain,
how I can break the chains of anger
by acting as you ask me,
how I can see beyond the surface
of an unpleasant person,
to the child of God
who needs your love and concern.
Help me to realize
that the person I long to resent
is a person that you walked the road to Calvary for,
that the person who does me wrong
is still a person you hung on the cross to redeem.
Help me Lord to see with your eyes,
to know the fruits of the spirit that come from you,
to act with love when I am hurt,
to find patience when I would rather scream,
to act with self-control when I would rather strike out.

O Lord, you who are love indeed,
You who are the Ocean of Mercy for this poor world,
teach me to love!
