Our Lady of Guadalupe is already the Patroness of the Americas.
Also the National Cathedral in Washington, D. C. is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Dear Salvation,
Actually, the "National Cathedral" in Washington, DC is the Episcopal Cathedral of Ss. Peter and Paul.
The Catholic site to which you refer is the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It isn't a cathedral, even if it is a very big church. The cathedral of the Archdiocese of Washington is St. Matthew's.

That would be incorrect.
"The cornerstone of the Cathedral was laid in 1907, and the final finial was set in place in 1990. The Cathedral was built and is operated solely on the support of private donations. The Cathedral receives no support from the federal government or any national church. Officially named the Cathedral Church of St. Peter and St. Paul"
