I do get intense when looking for the truth but I don't know of anyone before referring to me as an "acid personality". Most everyone who knows me says I have a very gentle personality.

I love the truth so I love the Catholic Church. Part of loving the truth is hating falsehood. If you find that insulting, so be it.

I grew up in a community of entertainers. Being a somewhat gullible child, on a number of occasions I was taken in before they let me in on the joke.

The stories they tell are no less believable than what I saw in the BOM.

Most of these people don't even have high school educations- it is a talent for making up and telling the story that counts- if anything the intellectualism of education seems to get in the way.

I can't do what they do, but having seen what they do I know that they could (and some of the more rascally ones would) take up the challenge your professor made.

You may not be aware of this but I have no doubt of the LDS population has a great percentage of University grads or have skilled occupation that can compete with any!

I have family (in-laws) who are RLDS. We have our disagreements but I get along very well with them. My wife came from that background knows far more about the BOM and the D&C than I ever could. After years of struggling with what she read in those books, she has finally found her home in the Catholic Church.

Mormons are very good at charity (daresay better than many Catholics) and I respect that. But as soon as we talk theology I cannot respect what is patently untrue. Mormons can be and often are excellent people to have as friends and allies, but it is not loving to keep silent when friends and loved ones are living by lies.

The original point of this article was a professor who challenged someone to duplicate what Joseph Smith did. The education level of modern LDS is non-sequetur. My argument is that some have published stories that have the scope of the BOM and that while good writing may require an education, making up a long and semi-believable story does not. I am sure you would be even more uncomfortable at the mention of other men who actually went made the claims and did the things Smith did. There is nothing miraculous about a relatively uneducated, but talented and audacious man creating a work like the BOM.

As being cordial goes, I don't think I've made any personal remarks about you, but I've been called acid and pompous by you. Someone is feeling very defensive now so I will leave them alone. Good day.
