What do you want to be when you grow up? xzins has convinced me that I want to be like Jack Bauer when I grow up and Dr. E told me that Superman wears Jack Bauer pajamas. I can't wait to ask my wife if that's alright.

I don't necessarily think any of Billy Graham's beliefs should come under question. It'S the magazines and reporters who should come under question. They are slamming that which they know not. And they phrase their idiotic questions to be able to twist anything around. It's all in their clever little game, at least they think it's clever...
To: big'ol_freeper
I've heard the worst of those charges before. Absolutely and unbelievably, Billy Graham's gospel is not that of the New Testament -- or at least it is not limited to that. And yes, he thinks you can be a Muslim and go to heaven, just like Mother Teresa.
With theology, I guess he also threw out this: Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
I take no delight in this knowledge about Billy Graham. But we serve Christ, not Billy Graham. Paul said even he should be cursed if he began preaching a different gospel. The truth is greater than Billy Graham. Still, it's very sad.

When asked why he would not confront men like William Clinton on obvious sins, Graham replied that if he did so, then he would not be invited to places like the Whitehouse.
So, the conclusion could be drawn that he cares more for the opinion of some men than of God, perhaps.

You may or may not have points against David Cloud. I wouldn't know. But the issue is not him -- it's Billy Graham. Surely some of those things shock you. Perhaps the Catholic emphasis bothers you -- so ignore that. What about the rest? How about his embracing of liberal churches, etc? He has reduced the Christian common denominator to include even those who do not believe. Being "nice" seems to be his only solid requirement, and even that is iffy. You must be bad to the degree of Hitler to deserve hell.
This is the end result of ecumenism. It destroys everyone involved because it forces them to give up the distinctives that define them until their faith is in nothing at all. And it has no defense against heresy and false doctrines which we are instructed to guard ourselves against. Lies and truth become equal.

While I think that some of the points in the OP are not what they're made out to be, the unfortunate truth is that Billy Graham is indeed quite errant in some of his theology. I would never presume to judge Graham's salvation, and my personal belief is that he was indeed a saved man. However, I agree with the earlier sentiment that his ministry quite possibly has done just as much harm as good. It's an unfortunate truth that's painful to acknowledge.

EXCELLENT POINTS ALL AROUND:
Wow! Most of the quotes are from circa 1968. That really carries a lot of weight.
I pesonally do not have any beef with Mr. Graham, and wish him peace in his remaining days.
In any case, I'd best not be passing judgements on him. I'm not so sure my glass house could stand up to any rebounding stones.

12. Graham does not believe that "the King James Version is The Way, The Truth and The Life. And that nobody comes to the Father, but by It."
LOL. LOVE IT. WELL PUT.
But, I hope you have your asbestos suit on.
And the fire won't be the fire of The Holy Spirit!

oh, like the thread about "illegal Mexican immigrants" causing a fatal traffic accident, a claim that could mysteriously never be substantiated? ;-D

He has preached against homosexuality.
But he has also emphasized loving the sinner while hating the sin.
You have a problem with that BIBLICAL stance, it seems.

Haven't been to his website. Not sure I want to dirty my browser.
Are you saying he's big on throwing rocks while building with none?
What a surprise. /sar

I think he is one of the most remarkable men of our era and has honored the Lord with his life and ministry.

Amen.
Part of me thinks that when his critics have won 1/10th the souls to Christ that Billy has, they MIGHT have earned a bit of a platform from which to pontificate.

I haven't heard hundreds of Billy's sermons. But I've heard dozens.
It doesn't take hearing too many before one discovers that he believes that Jesus Christ alone is The Way, The Truth and The Life.

I have personal Friends that do not live a lifestyle that I consider a worthy lifestyle but they know where I stand and where Father God stands on how they live their lives.
My prayer for them is Holy Spirit Conviction on their behavior and a willingness to change.
Bill Graham is not Holy Spirit.
I am sure WJBC is completely aware of Rev.Graham's stand on Biblical Truths and Southern Baptist doctrine.
Salvation will bring about change in WJBC not Bill Graham.
So telling WJBC that abortion is wrong is like talking to a wall. He needs to get Saved to be changed.

My reading is different. My understanding of his motives are that he'd rather be invited and able to give Godly counsel to folks in such critical positions than leaving them with only evil counselors to bend their ear.
