From ourselves, it's downright impossible, but through faith in Him righteousness is the simplest thing ever encountered to receive.
After reading that, I just skipped down to the comments.
Actually that email originated as a USA Today article, FYI.
It may be funny to you, but to many so-called Christians who wouldn't know what Christianity is really about if it hit them in the face will be led to believe this is the "truth about Jesus" and be led into believing THE lie: that Jesus was just another man who claimed to be a prophet of God, but turned out to be a profit of God instead. So to them, it's a religious movie that reveals the "True Christianity". My brother is deeply steeped into this lie, and even though reading is taboo to him usually he was mezmerized by this book and read 4 other books on this subject and subjects relating to the "truth about Christianity".
The LW&W was one of my favorite books as a kid and I was excited when the movie came out.
I can't put my finger on it, but unlike the book, I didn't "feel an attachment" to Aslan's character, nor was his sacrifice scene as terrifying as it was in the book. I remember sobbing when I read the book, but not one tear in the movie.
Maybe it's just because I'm old now.
When I want to watch a Christian film, I prefer to watch the ones made by people who are actual Christians, e.g. Cloud Ten Productions, Dave and Rich Christiano, David White and Kevin Downes, etc. Call me crazy, but I don't trust secular Hollywood's new versions of "religious" films. (especially if they're going to include The DaVinci Code in that genre)
I concur. It's better to watch movies made by Christian Studios because their reputation is on the line if they produce something that totally inaccurate or blasephemous like the "DaVinci Code". I prefer to call it the DaVinci Corruption" or the DaVinci Delusion". By the way, D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries is producing a 1 hour documentary about this very topic and it's deception. It will air in May, just before the "Davinci Code" movie is released to theatres so that the public will be educated as to what deceptions to look for when they watch it at the theatres around the country. I for one will not go to see it because it will only add to their coffers. I am praying that every movie projector that tries to show this blasphemous piece of crap will freeze up and it lamps will burn out so that not even one second of the movie will be able to be shown in any theatre. This would really cause a buzzstorm in the media and by the public at large. Of course I only want this to happen if it's in God's will. He may use this movie to bring glory to His Name in ways we can't even imagine. His ways are not our ways, and our thoughts are not His thoughts. But I just can't watch to see what happens, through prayer, I want to make things happen. I know in the end, the plans of Satan will backfire and WILL ultimately bring glory to Jesus.
What religion do these types of fantasy movies portray?"
If you don't know, it would be hard to explain since you probably aren't acquainted with the Christian faith. It would only make sense to someone who is knowledgable about Christianity and the purpose of Jesus becoming God the Father's Sacrificial Lamb for the sin of mankind.
Do you know how popular C.S. Lewis is in the Christian Community? Or J.R.R. Tolkin? I would rather watch a fantasy based on moral principles than a monster movie or a serial killer movie, or whore movie. Young people today are not attracted to dry matter-of-fact movies, they want movies that entertain like the "Chronicles of Narnia" that have a Christian Theme to it. I for one don't mind fiction movies or books if what it brings across is morality, righteousness, a sense of right and wrong, and what is right and wrong, and responsibilities to your Creator.
Interesting article. Thanks for posting it!
Also, I have to correct my original post....it's Cloud Ten Pictures, not Productions. :)
That was my reaction as well.
That's like calling "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" a Jewish movie...
