Surrounded by supporters and buoyed with their blessings, a Catholic nun today reported to prison for trespassing on government property.
Sister Mary Dennis Lentsch will serve six months at a Lexington, Ky., federal prison for civil disobedience.
Before leaving in a car caravan, about 20 supporters surrounded Lentsch in front of the John J. Duncan Federal Building downtown to sing songs and pray for her.
Lentsch was sentenced for a November 2005 incident when she and other protesters entered the grounds of Fort Benning, Ga., which houses a school that has been blamed for human rights abuses in Latin America.
She also has been a frequent protester at the nuclear weapons facilities in Oak Ridge and has served time in federal prison for charges of trespassing at those demonstrations.
Was this part of a Pax Christi protest?
Check out my new tag. :^D
Aw, she's just grumpy that her favorite preachers prefers altar boys to her. (Cardinal Maphony: the Latino ones are easier to keep quiet.)
Gee, how many abortion mills did she protest?
Many of the 20-somethings from that tortured decade have grown older but apparently no wiser.
In her own words at the sentencing hearing, "I treasure my Gift of Life and my 69 trips around the sun".
Exactly. When Justice O'Connor retired one of these grey hippie nuns wrote a letter to our local paper saying that President Bush should nominate someone "pro-choice" for the court to "keep the balance", whatever the hell that was supposed to mean.
Way too much time on the labyrinth, not enough time in Adoration. I would have liked to see this one spend some time with Mother Angelica in her prime.
