it sure makes a person look stoopid, all things considered.

Why? If Jesus was called 'Rabbi' (and he was); a Rabbi must be married (by Jewish Talmudic laws). Jesus was called 'Rabbi' by Peter (Mark 9:5; 11:21), by Judas (Matthew 26:25,49), and by Nathanael (John 1:49), and other disciples (John 1:38; 4:31; 9:2; 11:8), He acknowledged the title without dispute.Great masses of the people also called Him "Rabbi" (John 6:25); and when Nicodemus, a Pharisee, and a ruler of the Jews acknowledged Jesus as "Rabbi", it was conclusive evidence that Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi (John 3:1-2).

So, again why is anyone who would suppose that Christ was married be considered 'stoopid'. Jesus was a Jew, and as such followed certain perscribed dietary restrictions, was held to certain acts of conduct, and observed traditional Jewish customs.

Again, why is supposing that Jesus Christ was married such a leap? Why does that cause people to question his message?

Is there a specific reference for this? Thanks.

Ummmm....let me see......

Could it be that everything written about him by the people who knew him, every historical reference about him says he wasn't married.......and absolutely none say he was.

Don't let such silly things like that get in the way of such deep thoughts.

/sarcasm

His message was more than the sermon on the mount. It is who He is and was, his relationship with the divine, and who we are and our relationship to the divine.

The DaVinci Code and its forebearers are gnostic follow-ons. They hold completely different teachings on the nature of Jesus and completely differnt teachings on who and what and how he taught.

They teach that Jesus's "true" teachings were suppressed by a conspiracy; that what Christians believe today is a result of that conspiracy.

In short: whether Jesus was married to St. Mary M. is a tiny part of the problem.

The Talmud wasn't written down yet, therefore you have no idea what the contemporary oral tradition said. And Jesus rejected the oral tradition.

Go and learn so you won't be an ignoramus anymore.
