Not to be dense, but does this mean the following:
We can have Latin Masses in any church?
The bishop doesn't have to give permission for a Latin Mass to be said?
Will it be a true Latin Mass, or a "new" Mass said in Latin?

Where can I get my St Joseph's Daily Missal's spine repaired? :)

According the widespread rumors (many from normally reliable sources), the plan is for the Pope in some form (details are not available yet) to issue a very broad permission for priests to offer Mass according to the rite of Pius V (commonly and mistakenly called Tridentine). One thing that would convince a lot of people that +Benedict XVI is serious about preserving this rite would be if he ordered a new edition of the Pian Rite to be published. The last time the Missal was updated was in 1962. An update is long overdue. Saints have been added to the calendar and there are some minor tweekings that could be done to the missal beyond that.

Just remember, any priest who dares to say a Latin Mass against the wishes of his Bishop has just given up hope of any promotions or decent assignments. The Pope can propose, but the Bishop disposes.

My Bishop allows two Latin Masses in the diocese, but he absolutely refuses to allow the FSSP or any other order that says a legitimate Latin Mass into the diocese. We have to scrape up a priest every Sunday to have the Mass.
