For example, we read that another man was chosen to be an Apostle, to fill the vacancy that Judas left. However, at some point the Church stopped doing that, as no one has the 12 Apostles (except the LDS).
The Apostles (and the Prophets) are the foundation of the church.
Per the scripture, ... the foundation has already been laid ...Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;Why would you need to build a new foundation (necessitating new Apostles and Prophets), ... unless you were building something different than what Christ has already built ?
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Elijah and Moses visited Jesus, but why?
There is a need to know this ?
Do you think that God has withheld any knowledge at all from us ?
Jesus provided the Sacrament, but how often should it be done?
"As often as you do this ... ?" - Jesus
None of those works are required. We were given the Gift of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost - he leads us to truth. However, we don't have ALL truth. Neither do the Mormons.
The Bible doesn't say that we are required to have Apostles or that they necessarily have the spirit of prophecy if we do. The Bible does not tell us why Elijah and Moses visited Jesus - I take it, by His Word, that we don't need to know.
How did Melchezidik (sp?) recieve his preisthood. Who conferred it upon him? He didn't receive it through his Levitical (Aaronic lineage.) He was conferred it by God - we don't need to know.
