One small issue with your thoughts on this subject:

In this passage, the potter/clay analogy has to do with God's purpose of election. Not us doing his will. His purpose will stand, regardless of what we do....

This passage is used to rebuke those who will protest God creating some for a Holy purpose, and some for a vessel of wrath.

His purpose



His purpose is ALL be saved. He is no respector of person. He choose ALL but not ALL accept Him. It's with our freewill we either choose Him or don't. He gave us freewill because He is not a manipulator. Humans manipulation to gain someone's love, not God, for His is pure love.
