Before we jump to conclusions because it's Warren see how he defines fundamentalism.

Did you read? "of all kinds"

here is more clarification:

The Pew Forum on Religion. Read the transcripts for Rick Warren's interview. Rick Warren - May 23, 2005:

On the Fundamentals of the Faith

That is, not someone who has a fundamentalist view of the scriptures, but someone who takes the scriptures as justification to commit violence.

have you read about all the people who get kicked out of churches that espouse his teachings because they have a fundamentalist view of Scripture?

hey lady, I've missed ya! I totally agree. It is manmade. "oh Holy Spirit, you're not being very effective... let's come up with some 'tools' to facilitate your influence.'

The SHAPE program (pretty much any spiritual gift 'survey' course included) is a farce IMO. Tell me which Bible character was used for his natural talents or what he thought he was good at?

I know exactly what you refer to. If PDC takes over one's church, traditionalists will be driven away either by disgust or by an invitation to "find another church home".

Amen, and God bless you for standing up in the face of heresy.

The church we left was just beginning to adopt the Purpose Driven model - we were the "dissenters", so I know exactly what you're going through. When the PDL was substituted for the Bible and called "Bible Study", I knew it was time to leave. Nearly every sermon was a sales-pitch for the new Alternative Service they were putting together for Saturday nights. Skits and drama during the Sunday worhip service, surveys, and NO conviction of sin. It was a sinking ship that tore apart the congregation.

Have you been to the deceptioninthechurch.com site?

I'm pretty much in favor of any moral program that gets the gospel out to others or gets others in to hear the gospel.

Which Gospel? I didn't find it in PDL or PDC. In fact, both of them can be used with any religion and people of all religions are using it - simply adding it to their prior belief system instead of rejecting the former and turning to Christ alone. I thought the Gospel was exclusive to Christianity.

This "soft sell of a Rick Warren"

I agree. It's another form of marketing. As for soft sell, try the Emergent Church. They reject megachurches, as if the size or style is the enemy. But they have left out the truth as well and are just as confused.

Such a stunning mis-use of scripture.

Take the red pill... and I'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes....

Oops, after a second read on the article it appears I misspoke. Apparently he is quoted as saying that Fundamentalism is the enemy. I'm not sure he referred to fundamentalists as the enemy.

I have requested my last post be stricken.

His global PEACE plan fits right in here with Jim Wallis' socialist agenda. Can you imagine the "church" (for lack of a better word) and governments working hand in hand? What a frightful behemoth that would be.

Thank you for the tip. I'll add that site to my list. I do my best to keep informed.

I'm so sorry to hear that your church was taken over but so happy to hear that you stood by the Truth.

May God bless you as you go forward.

lol at least you correct your errors. So many people have tried to contact Rick to discuss his errors and plead with him to correct them, but he refuses. He's definitely purpose driven (e.g. damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead) -- and from reading his books I guess that's what counts. (:-(

Or they just get ignored until they go away. All this talk about 'relationship' only works if you never question the pastor.

5. The inerrancy of the scriptures themselves (Psalms 12:6-7; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20). [1]

Just two questions. How did Judas die? How was the land Judas bought purchased?

I think the opposition to this apostasy has turned the corner, and the mainstream is finally understanding why there is such concern.

I read a statistic a few days ago that shows that the smaller churches and home churches are actually growing faster than the "megachurches", simply from people being 'purpose driven' from the "megachurch". It was in the same article that talked about going further than taking your children out of public schools -- you also need to take them out of the 'purpose driven' churches. Great column, by the way, by Paul Proctor.
