That doesn't mean they had to be children of Mary. One tradition has it that Joseph had children from a previous marriage before being betrothed to Mary. At the same time, Scripture supports that argument that He had none, since He entrusted His Mother to John the Apostle while He was on the Cross.
Yes. But the claim to the throne of David is through the exception of Zelophehad's daughters and her marriage to Joseph.

I guess you're unaware that I don't profess to being a Christian. I've admitted recently (in the past two years) my error in believing for past 30 years that Jesus is God. I'm converting to Judaism.
And if he's not God, why bother?
I'm not bothering. I'm sorry, I thought you knew what you were dealing with.
The you was mostly a general audience you...not necessarily to you in specific, as I don't really know you from Adam.
But beyond that, how should I know your particular faith trip?
You want to be Jewish, fine. Although why you want to hand around a thread where Christians are bemoaning the growing paganism in one particular Christian denomination is another story altogether.
Studied a lot of Jewish stuff in my younger day myself, in part because my grandfather was Jewish, and I was interested, curious, and honestly seeking. This did include some of the Talmud, particularly the Pirke Avot, history, a lot about the Hasidic movement, a bunch of other stuff. I don't know how far you are in to things, but this is the equivalent in many ways of the struggle between reform and orthodox Judaism.
There is a word, apikoros, which pretty much sums it up.
Could not have said it better myself.
He entrusted His Mother to John the Apostle while He was on the Cross.
The reason for this is quite obvious when you understand that his own brothers thought he was crazy; [John 7:5, For even his own brothers did not believe in him.] His brothers were trying to get him killed....notice in verse 1-3 the Jews were waiting to kill him in Judea so he hung around Galilee. His own brothers told him that he ought to go to Judea for the Feast but in verse 6 Jesus tells them; [The right time for me has not yet come; for you anytime is right. The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil. You go to the Feast. I am not yet going up to this Feast, because for me the right time has not yet come. Having said this he stayed in Galilee.]
But now we notice in verse 10 [However, after his brothers had left for the Feast, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.]
Now does this sound to you like he is talking about some brotherly followers who were adoring him and clinging to his every word.......or are these the same maternal brothers who he grew up with, thinking he is a nut bag and trying to get him killed?
As you surely recall in Matthew(13:53-58) and Mark(6:1-6) and Luke(4:20-24) Jesus tells us how he was despised and not accepted even in his own home town and among his own kin. "A prophet is without honor". No, these brothers were the sons of Mary and Joseph....all younger than Jesus. Their names were James, Joses, Judas, and Simon and he also had at least two maternal sisters.... to be named later. These brothers and sisters most certainly became converts to his divinity after his resurrection.....but he entrusted the care of his mother to his disciple John because of the previous family friction.
Oh ok. How should I have known, the post was addressed to me.
But beyond that, how should I know your particular faith trip
Hence the "sorry, you didn't know what you were dealing with". Ok. Carry on. You're an expert on Judaism now. I await the pearls of wisdom.
Mary had two other sons. Just because some Italian in a dress says otherwise doesn't make it so.
