Need a church while travelling for Christmas?
Vanity ^ | 12/22/05 | Huber

Are you travelling for Christmas to be with relatives and loved ones?

Do you feel uncomfortable that the old church in which you were raised has become apostate or heretical?

Do your relatives or loved ones relatively attend church at all?

Are you going to be in one of the culturally "elite" parts of the country (a.k.a. "blue states")for Christmas?

Do you seek a reverent liturgy?

Do you need a good church for Christmas while travelling?

Free Republic can help us solve this dilemma. Please use this thread to post recommendations and requests for FReeper recommended Christmas services throughout the country!

In our case, we will be in Northern Westchester/Southern Putnam County, NY for Christmas. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good theologically orthodox liturgical service in the area? Anglican, Catholic or Eastern Orthodox would all be fine.

I can't get there before 11

That must mean you're performing some critical function in the service.

Gamey, where is this English speaking Reformed Baptist Church?

You Know You're in a Redneck Church if the finance committee refuses to provide funds for the purchase of a chandelier because none of the members knows how to play one.

I would have predicted that kind of faithfulness from the Free Methodists. Merry Christmas, Rev.

I am dubious and wary.

You should be. It is just a guide, use with caution.

My church, Soaring Oaks Presbyterian Church, will have services Christmas eve at 8, and Christmas Day at 10. Great pastor and a great preacher.

Oh, and they have some lame old white guy singing part of a Fred Hammond Gospel song in the Sunday service. Go figure.

Anyone in Wester New York for the Holidays?

May I suggest my Bible believing church ?

We will have a candle light Christmas Eve carol and message service on Christmas eve at 7 PM

and Christmas morning at 11 am.

These will be messages that present the Nativity in the light of the cross and salvation, so a time for the unsaved family to hear the gospel clearly preached.

We are a church of about 300-400 friendly and serious about the word of God .

boys....boys...

Hey, Dan, think your lame white guy could raise his BibChr voice at my church some time?

You'd be among infidel Methodists, though. :>)

I'd be delighted. (Though I'd rather preach!)

A black friend (who is a singer) asked me whether I had soul. I said, "We're going to find out."

I'd let you preach as long as its the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And I think that's what I'd get out of you.

LOL. I'll listen to ya.

Once in college an informal vocal group of 200 was begging for volunteers to sing for some special occasion. My friends and I agreed to join in the spontaneous fun. As we sang, the choir director got down off his lectern, slowly snaked through the singing crowd as if listening for something, and finally stopped at me.

"YOU! OUT!!!"

So you got nothing on me, Dan. 8~)

Merry Christmas, gentlemen. I'd love to hear all you guys preach Christ's birth.

Thank you for the invitation. We will be away from home but still in California.

It has been a long time since I was traveling in Connecticut. I lived in Old Saybrook and traveled to Middletown for Christmas celebration back then.

Looks like we have a winner here. .30 Carbine is serving rum and cake after the service. That beats Christmas Blend, African, Jamaican, Costa Rican, green beans, dark roasted, or mountain grown coffees any day. I wanna go to her service!

Old Saybrook is one of the nicest towns on the Sound. It has kept its village character when all around it has gone commercial. Did you visit Middletown Bible for the celebration?

It improves the caroling. Loosens the vocal chords or something technical like that. This has been scientifically proved with much testing. We have awesome singing at Shady Rill!

How I'd love to have you among us, dear blue-duncan!

Rum? I would have to call it a night after a thimble full ... laughing... I'm going to made some fresh coffee right now in honor of all of you.

Wishing you every blessing as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Merry, Merry Christmas to you and your families.
