It doesn't take a crystal ball to see the future direction of Western culture. And, whither goest Western culture, ECUSA is bound to follow.
All along, social conservatives and religious orthodox thinkers have warned that the easing of social sexual mores would lead to the destruction of the family and rampant immorality. First, heterosexual marriage was replaced by serial monogamy which allowed for socially exceptable pre-marital fornication and marriage after divorce (not to mention multiple divorce). It wasn't long before adultery became so commonplace that it barely gets a raised eyebrow.
Now, the nations and churches of Western civilization are considering accepting homosexuality and even gay marriage. All the while, the homosexual lobby has promised that the "expansion" of marriage rights will not result in social and moral chaos. They just want their civil rights, that's all.
Well, two recent newspaper articles, make it clear that the Pandora's box of pan-sexual liberation has been flung wide open. What's worse is that the same civil rights tactics usurped by the homosexual lobby, are being used to advance the cause of even more insidious pan-sexual behavior. In fact, the Civil Rights Movement has been totally highjacked by the pan-sexuality freedom cause. Western Civilization is indeed in steep decline.

In an earlier article, Moving Mountains discussed the "polyamourous" movement in which "wife-swapping" is given a socially acceptable name and promoted as nothing more than another "alternative lifestyle."
What is most deplorable, is that, in all cases, strategies of The Civil Rights Movement, which accomplished so much to relieve the oppression of minority groups are now being abused to advance the pan-sexualist cause. These abuses and untrue parallels unfairly sully the accomplishments of the brave people who struggled under injustice from racial and gender-based oppression.
The Civil Rights Movement fought for equal rights for all people regardless of inate human characteristics (skin color, ethnicity, gender, etc.) or constitutionally protected freedoms (religion, political beliefs, etc.). This new movement seeks to establish utopia by squelching social judgement of others based on people's behaviors and character.
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that he had a dream that his children would be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. Certainly, this is not what he had in mind.
But, Dr. King was obviously not as enlightened as the new post-modern pan-sexualists, now was he? Hey, polygamists and pedophiles have rights too, don't they?!?!
Both groups make logical arguments that they are not hurting anyone. Once the Bible is thrown out as the standard of moral teaching, pretty much anything can be justified. So, you can bet that, if current theological trends continue, by GC09, ECUSA will be taking up the bright and glorious cause of freedom for the oppressed and misunderstood polygamist and pedophile.
The Church should be standing up against this insanity, and reaching out in love to the people who are caught up in such dangerous foolishness. Instead, ECUSA is pandering to the world. These two newspaper articles show us the future of such pandering. It is up to the faithful orthodox remnant of true Christian Anglicans in North America to stand firm for Christ and His Word if we are ever to successfully reach the world for Him.
