The message is popping up everywhere.
From Fort McMurray to Fort Saskatchewan and into the province of Saskatchewan itself, the Knights of Columbus' Christ is Christmas lawn signs are a hit.
"The signs are selling very well," said Andrew Chan. "It's better than I expected."
Chan was working for a political candidate during the last election when he thought of the idea of creating the lawn signs for Jesus. He presented the idea to his council, Msgr. Joseph Malone Council 13312 at St. Joseph's Basilica, which decided to run with the idea.
"Our original run of 750 signs sold out quickly. We are now printing 500 more," Chan said.
Local distributors Shine FM, Universal Church Supplies and Blessings Church Supplies are having a hard time keeping the signs in stock. Chan said his council is doing everything it can to meet the demand.
"I brought 25 signs over to Universal and two days later, they were sold out," he said.
The signs come with a metal stand to be pushed into lawns. They can also be displayed from inside a home through a window.
A knight from Saskatchewan bought a few during a recent visit and said he would pass the word along to his council.
Chan predicts sales of the $10 signs could reach 1,500 to 2,000.
"We haven't heard from the Calgary knights yet. Who knows?" Chan said.
A portion of the proceeds will go towards providing financial assistance for three seminarians who belong to the council.

VERY nice.
Late night runs for children's cough syrup will now go to CVS or Walgreens.

I must have missed something while talking to my wife, Mike. What was said that resulted in the pulled comments?
something stupid about Jesus and I don't even know.
It didn't make any sense, but I had been chasing that guy through a couple threads.
Don't mind me :)
Thanks - I tend to be distracted by my wife...even after 10 wonderful years of wedded bliss.
that's a good thing.
I generally get distracted by mine as well, but it's only been 3.5 years....
Fort McMurray by the way is the #1 boomtown in Canada, possibly in North America. The GDP of the town is well over $100,000, it has the highest salaries in Canada, and the real estate is the most expensive in Canada, even higher than Vancouver. $450,000 will only get you an wartimer starter home there.

Interesting. What makes it such a boomtown?
I have got to get me one of them!
Where can I get this?

Oil. 2nd largest reserves of oil in the world in the form of tarsands. The technology to extract it a reasonable costs is just starting to really get online.
FortMac is a town where literally an 18 year old kid can start working on a $25/hour job on the same day of arrival. Housing shortages are so bad that they have a squatters problem. Of course anyone who knows how to work construction is working in the oil business....
