Speaking of sermons, I also wanted to call your attention to a promising new series of sermons on the Book of Genesis from the Rev. William Klock of Christ Church REC in Oregon. Starting with the First Sunday of Advent, Rev. Klock began preaching these sermons on Genesis and it is my understanding that he will be preaching this series for the next year. His first two sermons are:
In the Beginning...(Genesis 1:1)
Forming the Formless (Genesis 1:2-13)
As Rev. Klock writes in the first of these sermons,
We need to go back to the Old Testament regularly, because the fact is that it is no less Christian than the New Testament and it’s just as important for us to know. So for the next year or so we’re going to go back to the very first book in the Bible: Genesis. We’re going to look at the book that sits as the foundation of Holy Scripture, the first book of the Old Testament, the first book of Pentateuch – the Five Book of Moses, as they’re commonly called: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The Bible is the divine record of God’s dealings and interactions with his people and Genesis is the introduction to that record. If the first question we should ask when we come to a passage of Scripture is “What does this tell me about God?” then Genesis is an excellent place to start, because it’s author has, working under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, woven for us a masterful tapestry that not only shows us the history of the people of God, it tells us profound truths about the God who created and loves us, it tells us who our God is, and it lays out for us God’s plan of redemption – his plan to reconcile his fallen creation to himself.Indeed, if one gets his or her view of Genesis right, it certainly lays a good foundation for everything else. I am looking forward to this sermon series, and I hope it will help all of us deepen our knowledge of the Word of God. (Thanks to JA for pointing me to this series.)

I have been teaching an adult Sunday School class for staff, faculty, and retirees at the Air Force Academy for the last 2.5 years. The class has been on the Book of Genesis - we have covered the first chapter...and part of the second in that time. It has been an amazing study...one of the most interesting that I have led since seminary!
I have been listening to the Book of Genesis via BibleGateway, a website that provides audio in several translations and just about any language you need. It's amazing how little human nature has changed.
