Psalm 17 (18): 2-7, 17
I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord s my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer. My God is my helper, and in him will I put my trust. My protector and the horn of my salvation, and my support. Praising I will call upon the Lord: and I shall be saved from my enemies. The sorrows of death surround me: and the torrents of iniquity troubled me. The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me. In my afflication I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God. And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears..... He sent from on high, and took me: and received me out of many waters....
Psalm 102 (103):1-4, 8-10
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and let all that is within me bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and never forget all he hath done for thee. Who forgiveth all they iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases. Who redeemth thy life from destructon: who crowneth thee with mercy and compassion.... The Lord is compassionate and merciful: longsuffering and plenteous in mercy. He will not always be angry: nor will he threaten for ever. He hath not dealt with us according to our sins: nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Even with all the death and destruction from the hurricane, we must remember that God is the source of all good things, and He is providing for those who are in need, through the generosity of others. This post was prompted by what I found out earlier today. Someone I know, who was recently rewarded with a bonus for her hard work on a recent project, donated the whole thing, and possibly a bit more to Catholic Charities, for the hurricane relief fund. I thought that with all the prayers for the victims, the dead, etc., that it is sometimes forgotten to thank God for His own generosity to us, for giving us every good thing that we need.
Thank you, my Lord and my God for people like her! May your Holy Name be praised forever!
