Clergy converted from other faiths can receive a dispensation and, but it's not frequently done.

The pastoral provision has been a dispensation granted on an extremely limited basis since June of 1980. Those married protestant ministers, mostly Episcopalians, who convert to Catholicism and seek the Sacrament of Holy Orders must agree prior to ordination that if their spouse precedes them in death they will then adopt the discipline of celibacy. Not all of those who seek the dispensation receive it.
