Kissling Cousins (pro-abort "Catholic" pols)
Catholic World News ^ | July 9, 2005 | Diogenes

Posted on 07/10/2005 2:44:51 AM PDT by maryz

Catholics for Free Choice's Frances Kissling is alarmed by the new Instrumentum Laboris and its impact on the cerebrum of Joe Biden.

Now as we enter one of the most critical political issues of our time -- the selection of a new Supreme Court Justice -- the new pope has released a working document that gives ammunition to these groups and individuals by intimating that prochoice Catholic policy makers might be committing sin or causing scandal, and thus would not be eligible to receive communion.

"Intimating"? The document (§72) is straightforward: "Some [Catholics] receive Communion while denying the teachings of the Church or publicly supporting immoral choices in life, such as abortion, without thinking that they are committing an act of grave personal dishonesty and causing scandal."

For prochoice Catholics senators, faced with extremely difficult political options regarding protecting the integrity of the constitution and the Courts, this will be a terrible dilemma.

Kissling must have wet herself laughing while penning that line. What pro-abort Catholic pol has ever framed the political problem as a "dilemma"? What pro-abort Catholic pol has ever suggested, however obliquely, that he hoped Democratic party discipline would slacken in the future to permit him to move it in a pro-life direction?

The fact of the matter is that there is wide latitude for American bishops to reject the Vatican notion that prochoice legislators must in every instance and in every way consider no other issue but abortion as they decide on laws or nominees.

"the Vatican notion that prochoice legislators must ..."? I think her trolley jumped the tracks here.

We hope that the majority of American bishops will quickly put to rest this divisive Vatican opinion, reassert their own view that there are indeed legitimate options for Catholic senators evaluating nominees and that all options must be considered as the senators decide on support for or opposition to a candidate.

Well, if their inertness in the face of John Kerry's reception of communion during last summer's campaign is any indication of their views on the matter, the majority of U.S. bishops agrees with Kissling on this point. They won't need to reassert their view because no view was ever asserted in the first place. It's one of those issues that was remanded "for further study" (my guess is they set Joe Imesch the task of cutting photos of communion rails out of back issues of Newsweek, and that he's still working through the late-1990s batch). However, the U.S. bishops aren't shy of confronting governmental outrages against the common weal, and have issued a stern statement against "Operation Restore Order" in Zimbabwe. Interesting, isn't it, how much clearer one's Christian duty in the political order is at a distance of 8,000 miles?

I don't see what being Catholic or the Pope has to do with this.

In fact it doesn't matter what denomination of Christan you are
or even if you are Jewish.

The scriptures both old and new forbid killing children

Some may think that they can corrupt the church or influence the Pope but one
thing they will never do is change the word of God.
Not no way, not no how.

She probably is not worried about her following of such a tiny portion of "cafeteria Catholics (CINOs)", or her paycheck from the Rockefellers or the Packards. The Ford Foundation is another funder of Frances.

But I never knew John D Rockefeller, or David Packard or the Ford family to be Catholic...

Frances Kissling is an example what a Catholic SHOULD NOT BE. At her judgement before God, unless she recants and converts to the TRUE FAITH, there will be millions of dead babies whose deaths will testify to the evil of her life.

I want to hear the President of the USCCB hold a press conference and announce that Frances Kissling is officially excommunicated.

Until that happens this garbage du jour will continue, the MSM will eat it up, and REAL Catholics will feel the need to respond to it.

Just remember that after the "priestesses" were excommunicated that was the end of them being taken seriously. Finis. Fin. Ende.

**"Some [Catholics] receive Communion while denying the teachings of the Church or publicly supporting immoral choices in life, such as abortion, without thinking that they are committing an act of grave personal dishonesty and causing scandal."**

The CINOs will need to make a decision................will they be REAL Catholics and change their points of view on these matters or will they continue to be CINOs?

Simple question, but, unfortunately for them, not a simple answer. May the Holy Spirit be their guide!

Skylstad? Isn't his diocese filing for bankruptcy? He'd be more likely to cozy up to her for advice on funding. (Ooooh -- what a nasty thing to say!)

Wouldn't her "own" bishop have to excommunicate her? Or maybe she's more a "citizen of the world" and the Pope would have act directly!

Leviticus 18:21 -
You shall not give any of your offspring to sacrifice them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.

Leviticus 20:2 -
Say further to the people of Israel: Any of the people of Israel, or of the aliens who reside in Israel, who give any of their offspring to Molech shall be put to death; the people of the land shall stone them to death.

Leviticus 20:3 -
I myself will set my face against them, and will cut them off from the people, because they have given of their offspring to Molech, defiling my sanctuary and profaning my holy name.

Leviticus 20:4 -
And if the people of the land should ever close their eyes to them, when they give of their offspring to Molech, and do not put them to death,

Leviticus 20:5 -
I myself will set my face against them and against their family, and will cut them off from among their people, them and all who follow them in prostituting themselves to Molech.

Acts 7:43 -
No; you took along the tent of Moloch, and the star of your god Rephan, the images that you made to worship; so I will remove you beyond Babylon.'

Wasn't Frances Quisling finally excommunicated? Her organization, which consists of mostly her, should be Ex-Catholics for A Free Choice.

I can't find anything that says she's been excommunicated (unless you count automatic excommunication latae sententiae). I believe Bruskewitz issued an edict of excommunication for Catholics in his diocese who belong to her group (among others). However, her "group" doesn't seem to have actual members:

Frances Kissling of Catholics for a Free Choice dismissed the inclusion of her group among those banned saying, "If he is saying these people have excommunicated themselves, our response is 'Sorry, we have not done that.'" Kissling acknowledged that Catholics for a Free Choice is not a formal membership organization, although there are subscribing associates. However, the group has no associates in Lincoln.

Honestly I do not expect anything of Skylstad that one could call positive. But when Cardinal George is President I would expect so. And perhaps Cardinal George will be President sooner rather than later. Can the President of the USCCB really be Bishop of a bankrupt diocese? (I can hear it now: "That's never stopped them before!") Since we have the USCCB, and it hasn't been abolished as I desire (and require) I just want it to do one thing right and read out a Papal declaration of Kissling's excommunication.

How long is the term for president of USCCB? (I.e., how long do we have to wait?)

Kissling Cousins - love it! Great title!

We hope that the majority of American bishops will quickly put to rest this divisive Vatican opinion

That's pretty much the gospel message - let's take a vote and decide on what is true!

They won't need to reassert their view because no view was ever asserted in the first place.

Not exactly a 'feel good' campaign, is it?

My darling American bishops, ask for the courage only God can give you, then stand up and speak the truth as a group. We'll love you for it. We need it. The heretics need it too.

Kissling's not too bad with words herself. Consider "this divisive Vatican opinion," a twofer if ever I saw one: Vatican has an "opinion," she has an "opinion" -- what's an "opinion" worth? -- everyone has one; she is at odds with the Vatican's "opinion," so it's the Vatican that's "divisive"!
