On confession: if they'd make it a practice of having it available before Mass, rather than one hour on Saturday afternoon, this might not be as much of a problem.

This was one of the first thoughts I had too. Longer Confession lines. I pray that more frequent Confession will happen.

You're forgetting though that for many priests in this modern phase, sin is something that God really doesn't care much about these days, because 'God is Love' and all you really need to do is have a 'relationship' with Him. Same aforementioned priests will even tell you in Confession that you're being too hard on yourself or for your penance to 'do something nice for yourself' when making a thorough Confession.
No wonder no one believes in the efficacy of Confession.
