There is absolutely no such thing as predestination. Our decision-making facilities and intelligence would be unnecessary if there were; we'd be robots and automatons.
Basically, nature offers no example of any sort of a complex capability which serves no purpose.

Well, Adam's decision-making facilities and intelligence didn't do him much good when he decided to take the fruit now did they? With all due respects, what makes you think you're that much smarter?

We can make all the decisions we want, but we simply cannot control the outcome or results. There's a large, and greatly unbiblical, myth to the cop-out concept of "Free Will".

Ephesians 1:5 he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,
Ephesians 1:11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,
