Neither of those statements are false on their face. However, they can blow out of proportion, like several Protestant websites/sources have done.

Yup! They can even desert Him like St. Peter or persecute Him like St. Paul. Those are just for starters. St. Augustine...now there is a piece of work for you!

You know this isn't true.

Judgments are made on the allignment with the Gospels. Always.

Maybe you need to do a little bit more studying on the process of canonization before you throw such stones.
