I was wondering - do you have a sense of peace about the process and the coming Pope or a sense of apprehension. I have to admit that my sense (as a non-Catholic) is somewhat of apprehension. Our world is such desperate shape.

I'm a little bit to the side of apprehension, just barely. There is some trust too -- I guess I need to pray more.

The next pope is supposedly one that will signal misfortunes for the world.

This one will try to put all things in order -- much as John Paul II was doing.

For what it's worth, I feel at peace because the Cardinals have taken their responsibility seriously and devoutly, and God is in control.

The world is in nasty shape.

But we are still in the hands of a God who loves us and calls us home. We may not get to get home the way we want, we may find ourselves being asked to stand up for the truth when it's hard, we may have crosses to bear, but God loves us. He is more faithful than we can ever be.
