WITH DRAMA OF NEW POPE WILL ALSO COME DRAMA OF LARGEST ACTIVE APPARITION SITE
Spirit daily ^ | 4/13/05

It could not have been that much more dramatic. On the evening that John Paul II died, halfway across the world, in the United States, a well-known seer from Medjugorje in Bosnia-Hercegovina said after his nightly apparition that the Blessed Mother had had something special for him that evening.

It was April 2, hours after John Paul II had died, and appearing in the U.S., the seer, Ivan Dragicevic -- seldom known to exhibit emotions, and representing the most famous apparition site since Fatima (the Blessed Mother is alleged to have appeared at Medjugorje since 1981) -- appeared happier than he had ever been, at least in the eyes of some beholders.

snip

For now, those like us who believe in the apparitions -- but will accept the judgment of the Church -- can take solace in the fact that while John Paul II never made it to Medjugorje in human form and while we can never verify if he actually appears in apparition, we can rest assured that he now has had a personal encounter with the Queen of Peace who so dearly loves him.

"What have they done to you Our Lady!" For nine years they have been dragging you along as a tourist attraction. They have been speaking with you whenever it pleased them, as if you were a bank teller. They have fabricated messages, and they say that you come and appear there, but beyond their own arguments they have nothing to prove that what they say is true. The whole world is in expectation of a "great sign" and the naive still wait and believe. Unfortunately this false sensation will bring great disgrace and scandal upon the Church.

Statement of Bishop Zanic, Bishop of Mostar (which includes Medjugorje).

     5.  The credibility of the "seers" - Mirjana Dragicevic.  One month after the beginning of the "apparitions" I went to Medjugorje to question the "seers".  I asked each of them to take an oath on the cross and demanded that they must speak the truth.  (This conversation and oath was recorded on tape).  The first one was Mirjana:  "We went to look for our sheep when at once..." (The associate pastor in the parish interrupted and told me that they actually went out to smoke, which they hid from their parents).  "Wait a minute Mirjana, you're under oath.  Did you go out to look for your sheep?"  She put her hand over her mouth, "forgive me, we went out to smoke."  She then showed me the watch on which the "miracle" occurred because the hands of the watch had gone haywire.  I took the watch to a watch expert who said that the watch had certainly fallen and become disordered.  After bringing the watch back to her I told her not to mention that a miracle occurred.  Yet, on cassettes taped later on, she went on to speak of how a miracle occurred with the watch and that initially they had gone out to search for their sheep.

What foolishness. All this talk about the pope allegedly pleading about protecting Medjugorje is just hearsay and wishful thinking.

For once, sinky and I agree! Wow, I've never felt so good. Next thing I know, you're going to tell me you're against women and gay men being ordinated to the priesthood. ;-)

Ordaining women seems to be a theological impossibility, and I am opposed to ordaining sexually active homosexuals or heterosexuals.

My preference, of course, is to encourage celibates and open the priesthood to chaste, married heterosexuals.

Here's something from an approved Message from the Blessed Mother, to a nun in Akita, Japan.

As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests."

"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres...churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

"The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them"

Are we supposed to be frightened?

I don't think I'll ever figure out what you're supposed to be, but I take Our Blessed Mother's warnings seriously.

Really? You must have missed that gift of the Holy Spirit when you were confirmed.

The fear of the Lord makes us dread sin as the greatest of all evils, and enables us to quell fear of man and human respect.

That's a shame. Anyway, the message is about chastisement, fire raining down from the sky, a great part of humanity being wiped out, and since Our Blessed Mother doesn't lie, I think it's cause to be concerned.

The joy had come, he told a group in New England the next day, because while he was doing what he regularly does -- viewing the Virgin Mary as is his custom  each evening at 6:40 p.m. and recommending intentions to her -- Pope John Paul II had suddenly appeared in apparition to Mary's left.

It was an extremely rare occurrence, even by the standards of the most active apparition site in the world: Hardly ever has any other spiritual form except angels (when she arrives) accompanied the Blessed Mother -- at least that is known by the general public.

Yet there was John Paul II, claimed the usually reticent seer, and the late pontiff, he said, had appeared "smiling, young and very happy. All in white with a long gold cape."

>>It was an extremely rare occurrence, even by the standards of the most active apparition site in the world: <<

The death of a Pope is an extremely rare occurrence. If one of the "Seers" did not see the Pope, I would be surprised.

This site has become GospaWorld. Money is made hand over fist. And the pity of it is that the Vatican by it's own rules cannot condemn this until the "visions" stop. While the gang makes this amount of money, they are not stopping for a while. The Bishop has ruled against the site and seers and the Vatican has stated that NO ONE should take tours to venerate this site. No one listens. Such is the way of the church nowadays, I guess.

I love reading Spirit Daily for many of the articles there. However they promote a few "seers" that are not approved by the Vatican and this one that they can't. They listen to the made up stories by the handlers that the Pope "said" something or turned specifically to a sign in St. Peter's Square to bless them. The Pope specifically avoided the site when visiting Yugoslavia. That's good enough for me.

Nicely stated. Did you see my post on Akita, Japan above? That one is approved, although I rarely hear people discuss it.

I rarely see it as well. That is one of the reason's why I have such a problem with what I do see. So far, approved apparitions have been short and sweet.

I need to do more research on Akita myself. I'll go to your source and do some reading today!

>>"With courage, speak to your superior. He will know how to encourage each one of you to pray and to accomplish works of reparation."

"It is Bishop Ito, who directs your community."

And She smiled and then said:

"You have still something to ask? Today is the last time that I will speak to you in living voice. From now on you will obey the one sent to you and your superior."<<

This is from your EWTN reference. If this same message was reported from Medjugorje, I would have much less of a problem with what is going on there.

I knew nothing about Akita until recently, I had heard it mentioned, but no details. It seems that a warning of fire raining down from the sky would get more attention.
