Cardinals attend Mass at the Vatican's St Peter's Basilica April 12, 2005. Roman Catholicism's conclave to elect a new pope will start at 1430 GMT next Monday in the Sistine Chapel following a public morning Mass in St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican said on Tuesday. Once the conclave begins, the cardinals will not emerge from the Vatican until a new pope has been elected. Cardinals pay their respects at the tomb of late Pope John Paul II in the grotto beneath the Vatican's St Peter's Basilica, April 12, 2005. Pilgrims will be able to pray at Pope John Paul's burial site starting on Wednesday morning, the Vatican said on Monday.
