Looks like about 8 or so USA cardinals and about 30 or so Italians.

The US is much larger in terms of Catholic population, isn't it.....why the disparity?

Good evening..looking for a place to ask my question..trust this is OK..

Just watching the pictures from Rome, and for some reason, I recalled something I read, or heard, years ago, and wanted to find out if it was correct?..

Not sure if it is the case now, but at one time there was NO doctrinal requirement that the next Pope be a Cardinal. He could just be a parish priest. Not even sure if he had to be a priest? Is this correct?..Thanks..
