I think that some of the things he did that some of us Catholics couldn't understand will come to light.

There is no doubt that he has been a great pope, worthy of the name Il Papa.

I am very grateful that you posted those. We think of him in many ways but rarely do we understand that in him God gave us a Pontiff with the gifts of an artist.

This is true...and he lost his earthly mother when he was young...but we never lose Mother Mary....

After reading those poems, I wrote this:

Mother,
O Lady in White,
who lighted on the little bush
in a cloud of light,
Our Lady of the Rosary,
knowing such things were to come,
this man,
not yet born
as you talked with the children
of penance
and sacrifice,
knowing what a dark century
it was likely to be,
and yet,
you showed us the way of hope
your son had to offer.

O Lady in White,
who showed your hand
as the assassin lay in wait,
who drew this man's eye,
and his posture changed
slightly, enough not to die,
as he struggled to see you,
as the bullet flashed,
Totus Tuus, he had offered
out of pure love,
and climbing the peak
to be God's witness against the godlessness
of the darkness,
you were there to help him through.

Now tonight,
O Lady in White,
hold him close in your arms,
as the end of an era draws close,
this man who labored so hard for your son,
giving his all,
so tht even on the day of his death
he would instruct us how to live.
Take his hand, O Lady of the Rosary,
and bring him at last
to see the fruit of thy womb Jesus
in all his glory.

Amen.

I just got back tonight from a Rosary said for John Paul II at the local parish.

I found that tonight's Rosary was extremely timely, and very much needed, in light of what this week has been.

Glory be to The Father +, The Son +, and to The Holy Ghost +, Amen.

Salve Regina, mater misericordiae;

O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria.

Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genitrix.

Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

********

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy;

our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;

To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us;

and after this our exile, show us to the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

And while we're at it, for good measure:

Our Father...

Hail Mary...

Apostle's Creed...

Eternal Father I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, High Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Great prayers... Thank you!

Morning Aire, on Relevant Radio, had extended coverage this morning with Christine Muggeridge giving live reports from the Vatican.

The comment that the Pope made earlier, "I've been waiting for you, I knew you would come. Thank you!" has been attributed to the youth filling St. Peter's Square, but some are also speculating that he may have been referring to the Blessed Mother.

Either way, I get goose bumps.

Anytime sweetie...

I've got to run, we've got a wedding to get to, but I'll touch base with you soon.

Prayers continued for the Pope.

A most blessed man for our time. I sure hope that conservative trend continues.

I know people who are more liberal Catholic who could not stand the man. I will never understand that whole mind set. First, to not stand someone doesn't say a whole lot about their "Christ like" attitude. Second, how could you not love what he has done to the Catholic faith, and embracing all those things that had seemed to fall by the wayside before his arrival?

Yesterday,by chance I tuned in on an off station ,radio, the rosary was being recited,I left it on...it stopped all of a sudden and then to my surprise, a Muslum, started talking..and one could make out a few words..PApA, the Vatican, john Paul ll, yes this Muslum radio station was having the ROSARY , played on their radio station for the Holy Father!!!! Amazing
I do not believe in ecumenism... but maybe one day the rosary will bring all to the knowledge of the True Faith..
