Pinellas Park, FL (LifeNews.com) -- A leading Catholic priest who visited Terri Schiavo on two separate occasions in the hours before her death says Terri was in a weakened medical condition from 13 days of starvation but was responsive until her death. The disabled woman even prayed with her family. "Last night, I spent about two hours with her until past midnight, together with Bobby Schindler and Suzanne, and then again this morning for about an hour and a half, and then right up until about ten minutes before she died," Father Frank Pavone said.
Pavone, the director of Priests for Life, said most of the time was spent in prayer with and for Terri and telling her that people across the country supported her.
When he prayed, Pavone said "She was very responsive -- closing her eyes when I said, 'Let's pray together, Terri,' opening them up after the prayer." Pavone made the remarks in an interview with Renew America, a grassroots organization headed by former presidential candidate Alan Keyes.
He indicated Terri was smiling and "returning the kiss of her father" as well as "turning her eyes to me when I spoke to her."
"In many other ways, as well, responsive," Pavone added.
"Even today, although, of course, with the effects of the dehydration, her response was much less," Pavone told Renew America. "Nevertheless, her eyes were open, her eyes were moving, and as I prayed with her." Pavone talked about how Terri Schiavo's plight and the national debate surrounding her life and death will continue as the nation grapples with end of life issues.
"Terri didn't die today from anything except the fact that her food and water were withheld for the last two weeks," he said. "She had no other underlying illness whatsoever. This is a case of throwing away a disabled person
"And we have to ask ourselves, has our nation now begun to go down the road of killing those who are disabled, simply because somebody says that they want to be killed," Pavone concluded.
This is a happy day for Michael Schiavo. The "bitch" is finally dead. He is probably already counting the money he'll make off the book and tv movie.

To be precise--the person who wrote this is the author of the article. Fr. Pavone is never quoted as literally saying she was responsive up to the moment of death. The author paraphrases him (probably incorrectly) to that effect. If you'll note, Fr. Pavone is quoted in this article as saying he left Terri 10 minutes before she died.
Thanks for the correction. I didnt catch the name of the guy who gave the interview at the hospice; this article showed his pic with it at the source, so it looked like it was him.
either way, the title is misleading.
This is (bitter-) sweet. Thank you for posting. It's a sad, sad day. I'm praying for Terri's soul and for the grief of her family, that they may fully express their sorrow and feel the grace of God. She should have a magnificent funeral mass. I'm so sorry that we lost her.
"either way, the title is misleading."
Well, is ten minutes really that significant?
in this case - - the last 10 of her life, yes.
hino threw the Priest out and her family as well. Your buddy mikie...WHAT A MONSTER.
As is yours.
However, you are lying. And I am not
They were NOT thrown out, idiot.
They were told to leave because they were doing an assessment on her.
Go crawl back under your rock.
More relevant is the fact that they were not allowed to stay in the room until her death so that the death fetish lawyer could get his kicks.
According to the Catholic Priest that this article is about, Pavone, he stated in the news conference he gave shortly after her death that the medical team came in and needed them to leave so they could do a routine check on her. It was during that time she died. That was pavones words, not mine.
And if any of you think I am "mikies buddy", as some idiot said earlier in this thread, well, check back thru my posts.
I am more concerned about being truthful than I am about what anyone here or anywhere else thinks of me.
Felos made the statement that hospice staff asked them to leave the room for doing tests(???).Not Pavone
"in this case - - the last 10 of her life, yes."
IMO, there is no significant difference between being Responsive Til Death, and being responsive til within ten minutes of death.
The overwhelming fact is that she was responsive when these monsters began killing her.
"hospice staff asked them to leave the room for doing tests(???).Not Pavone"
We may be saying the same thing.
Pavone said that he and others were in the room. The hospice staff (medical team) came in to work on her. I forget his (Pavines) exact wording, but I believe it was "routine tests" or comething like that; but Pavone was asked by the hospice staff to step out.
It was not Felos or Schiavo that asked them or told them to leave.
"there is no significant difference between being Responsive Til Death, and being responsive til within ten minutes of death"
If they aren't accurate about the "til death" part, what makes you sure that she was even responsive up until 10 minutes before?
Thats my point.
Pavines=Pavone. Typo.
"Thats my point."
And mine is that there is no inaccuracy, as there is no significant difference between the two statements.
