Purpose Driven Life
Posted on 03/14/2005 10:28:37 AM PST by blue-duncan
For all of you Rick Warren fans out there, did you happen to catch the interview with the Brian Nichols, ex-hostage Ashley Smith? She was reading "Purpose Driven Life" as part of her devotions and read part of chapter 33 to him and then asked him what he thought his purpose in life was. This was part of the discussion that convinced Nichols to give himself up. We should all have her boldness in the face of trials.

I agree with you on the original NIV.
What I am saying is the same as you.
I am just trying to give a recommendation not to support Harper Collins.
I am not passing Judgment on anyone who does buy their products.
Everyone needs to make their own personal decisions Peace be with you.

I think there is a definite lack of humor on this thread, except when you mention Laurie Dhue and then that becomes the beginning of sin. Do you suppose that is because of the evil designs of the conglomerate that hired her?

Do you suppose that is because of the evil designs of the conglomerate that hired her? No doubt. It's in the code.

You know, ever since Theodor (Dr. Seuss) Geisel died there has been a void, and I miss him. Was he published by Harper Collins or worse yet, Simon & Schuster?

I watch Fox news and I know owns it. But do you see why we consider that a problem? You support the company you won't support.
I'm not questioning your sincerity. But I don't follow the logic.
And I know for darn sure that it's just too much for me to keep up with. I just don't ~do~ boycotts anymore. I don't think they're effective.

His heart grew 10 (?) sizes that day!
The Seuss was a curious guy with a curious take. It'd be nice to get some new material out of him. Hope he was a Christian.
How 'bout "Harper Schuster"

You don't suppose Soros or Buffet is behind this, secretly buying up all of the publishing companies, especially Chirstian ones, to consolidate their evil intent to squeeze the light out of them?
To: xzins
You might want to look at this site. http://catinthehat.org/ . It does not appear that he had any spiritual (Christian) interests.

His wonderful plan is to give them the desires of their heart and that is to be independent from the source of life. That is hell, positionally and existentially. And you think that is a "wonderful plan for their life"?
To: xzins
You avoided the question. No, I didn't avoid anything. That question wasn't proposed to me.
Would you have looked the guy in the face and told him "You are totally depraved" and your plan to get out of the situation?
Now that it is directed to me, I'll respond to it. Fair enough?
In that circumstance, I wouldn't have engaged the fellow in a nuance of theology. My main concern would have been preservation of my life foremost, and then his.

Excellent. I don't think I'd take to about the life of Jacob Arminius, either.
