A whistleblower Catholic priest who says his bishop is persecuting him because of his activism against homosexuals in the priesthood appeared yesterday in front of an ecclesiastical court near Catholic University.
The Rev. James Haley, 48, a priest in the Diocese of Arlington, appeared before a panel of judges and canon lawyers for a final hearing in a case brought against him by Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde. The case has lasted more than three years.

Wait a second! Fr. Haley was accused of sexual offenses BEFORE he blabbed to the press about other priests? He's not a whistle-blower, he's trying to take others down with him. Grrrr! I had just been laughing "Go, Jimmy, go" when I heard Ratzinger was going to review the case.
O well, it's still good news that the trial will force Rat-zinger to rule on the issues brought forth.
"Bishop Loverde has lodged several charges against the priest for sexual misconduct in a case that began in the fall of 2001. He ordered Father Haley silenced and removed him from parish ministry.
The priest denied the sexual-misconduct charges, then revealed in a July 24, 2002, deposition filed in Arlington County Circuit Court a lengthy account of adultery and homosexual affairs among certain priests in the Northern Virginia diocese."
This is certainly relevant information which previous postings about this man failed to mention.

Read up on Loverde. Pay close attention to hi Pirncipal Consecrator and Co-Consecratro.....who consecrated them, and whom they in turn consecrated as Bishops.
You will find icky things when you turn over a rock in the woods.
Lavendar mob alert.
Whether or not the allegationas against Haley are true or not, let him keep blowing the whistle.
Any stick is good to beat......a......."bishop".
ping.......
A woman parishioner made a pass at him which he rejected.
a lengthy account of adultery and homosexual affairs among certain priests in the Northern Virginia diocese.
It wasn't HIS adultery...he blew the whistle on a favorite priest, who carried on an open affair with a married woman in his parish and ended up impregnating her, breaking up the marriage, and leaving the priesthood to marry her himself. Fr. Haley was assigned with him and begged the bishop to do something to stop the affair but nothing was done. The homosexual pornography was owned by the pastor of my former parish. I'm somewhat conflicted as to what point personal sins become reportable to the bishop, but having porn delivered to MY home would certainly bother me.

Umm, that's not sexual misconduct; I'm sure that's HIS side of the story, and it very well may be true.
Well, a lot of people around these parts thought that Daniel Patrick Reilly was a good guy who was brought down because he opposed the lavendar mafia in Albany and Boston.
But I presume you are mostly focusing on the fact that the guy who consecrated him also consecrated Bernadin.
I have no problem with Fr. Haley reporting the porn to his bishop. What I have a serious problem with are many of the suggested, but unknowable assertions of homosexuality which somehow RCF found about. Like pointing out that his pastor was visited by a "gay-looking" massuese. Great. Now everyone in his parish will suspect him of being gay, but in reality even Fr. Haley's testimony establishes nothing of the sort. The fact that story got publishes is, to me, grounds for severe discipline against Fr. Haley.
