The Problem with Sr. Chittister is that she left Roman Catholicism a long long long time ago.

Put together a mishmash of geopolitical falsehoods, stir in a leftist political bigotry, and put a Christian/Catholic label on this garbage, and you get this. Did I miss anything?

Wow, another phony Christian being published in an ostensibly Christian publication.

"Do Christians of the radical right really want their grandchildren reading from the Koran or the Vedas or the Flower Sutras for morning prayer?"

What is wrong with the faux Christians that they consider adherence to God's Word as "radical"?

"And if not, what will those same Christians do when school boards under different ethnic influences require them?"

Now that IS an interesting question. The answer is that society could protect itself from the increase in non-Christian "minorities". But then -- that's the whole point isn't it?

Ya know, there was a time when I considered people like this witch (and I mean the term literally) to be simply naive fools who were just too soft-hearted to use their brains.

I now have come to believe that what drives such an intellectually dishonest column is pure hatred.

Sister Christine is a feminist and the Vatican has called her a source of scandal to the faithful.

Uh, the typical litany of the evil in religion.

"Sister," it was "religion" (Christianity) that ended slavery in those parts of the world where Christianity had an influence.

It was "religion" (Christianity)through missionaries and Christian institutions that helped provide increased health and living standards for hundreds of millions of people throughout the world.

It is "religion" (Christianity) that provides countless amounts of money to care for the sick, the homeless, the starving, the widowed, the orphaned throughout the world.

It was "religion" (Christianity)that helped establish women's rights.

It was and is "religion" (Christianity) that has fought against racial prejudice.

It was and is "religion" (Christianity) that has provided the basis for democratic institutions.

One thing I have to say about this article - has this person not read the First Ammendment? 'Separation of Church and State' was a phrase coined by the ACLU, NOT the CONSTITUTION! These types of people, standing behind Christianity, are the very ones giving Christians a bad name. Perhaps she should pick up the Bible, learn the TRUTH, and READ THE CONSTITUTION! Come on chick - our Forefathers had a direction for this country, and we are definetly NOT on that path! Thanks for the info! Kimberly

We saw some of that ourselves recently, perhaps. In the middle of a tight presidential election, the question of gay marriage -- a highly debatable and volatile subject which does indeed require a great deal of discussion, a veritable Solomon's circle of thinkers

Debatable? Requires discussion? Since when? Is this woman's first allegiance to God or to the Devil?
