The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, a coalition of Christian leaders committed to promoting and producing resources for a modern reformation of the churches in doctrine, worship, and life, according to Scripture, has recently reorganized to tighten vision, enhance communication, and display a unified pan-Reformed vision and identity, according to Robert Brady, a spokesman for the Alliance.
Dr. Ligon Duncan has been named President and Chairman of the Alliance Council, Dr. Mark Dever is Vice-Chairman, and Dr. Philip Ryken will serve as Bible teacher on the radio and Internet broadcast known as Every Last Word. Joining them will be Rev. Richard Phillips, Director of Events, including the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology, Dr. Derek Thomas, Editorial Director, and Mr. Robert Brady, acting Executive Vice President with oversight of radio, media, and Reformation Societies.
The Alliances twofold mission is to proclaim and defend the solas, of the Protestant Reformation: the final authority of the Bible, salvation by grace alone, through Christ alone, received by faith alone. And to help foster a twenty-first century reformation of the Church. According to a statement from the Alliance board, We want the Church to recover clarity and conviction about the great evangelical truths of the gospel, and then live and proclaim these truths powerfully in our contemporary context.
The Alliance began more than fifty years ago as Evangelical Ministries, broadcasting The Bible Study Hour and publishing Eternity magazine. The group played a strategic role in the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy and in promoting the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology. In 1994 Evangelical Ministries began a new era when the late Dr. James Boice invited Christian leaders to meet in Philadelphia. Concerned that North American Christianity had yielded to the spirit of the age, especially in terms of consumerism, pragmatism, politicization, and disregard for theological clarity, the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals was formed to bring a biblical response to these trends within the wider Christian community.
More recently, the Alliance has addressed open theism, the new perspectives on Paul and justification, and the redefinition of marriage and the family. The Alliance currently sponsors three national radio programs and a peer-reviewed web resource. It continues to bring together leading Reformed and evangelical pastor-theologians to promote the health of the local churches.
BUMP to the "21st Century Reformation of the Church," joyously and confidently proclaiming "salvation by grace alone, through Christ alone, received by faith alone."
THANKYOU FOR THE NEWS!
WILL PASS IT ON TO THE REFORMED SAINTS.
GODSPEED!
