Knitting A Conundrum

Posted on 02/01/2005 3:25:06 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Please join me in prayer for John Paul II. I am asking that we don't bicker, just pray on this thread. God bless.

Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come to You. Allow your healing hand to heal your servant, John Paul. Touch his soul with Your compassion for others. Touch his heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch his mind with Your wisdom, that his mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring him health in body and spirit that he may serve You with all his strength. Touch gently this life which You have created, now and forever. Amen.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on the sick and dying.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Morning Prayer on a Sick Day

At this moment, Lord,
I come to you,
frail,
ill,
so aware of my mortality,
and full of knowledge of
how small a speck I am in the face
of an immense universe.

And yet,
rather than despair,
I instead
remember a time
you chose to become
frail,
vunerable,
grieved,
tortured,
and executed
by a miserable death
for all the poor
vunerable,
sinful
small specks that we are
for love.

Thank you Lord,
for holding our hands
when the days are dark.

Let me offer all my fears
and sorrows
on the altar of your love,
Hide me in your Sacred Heart,
for only there will I find my peace.

Adding prayers!
(thanks for the ping.)

Thy Will be Done, Holy Lord.
Dear Mother, intercede for your devoted Sheppard and give him peace at his hour of need.
May the doctors have all the knowledge they need to help him recover if it be Our Lord's will.
And bless Your church as we go through this crisis.
Amen.

Has the pope been saved

Anybody who is still alive has not been saved. The Ten Commandments apply for one's entire life. They cannot be suspended because of some personal revelation.

Introduction:

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

For an increase in faith, hope, and love:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The Joyful Mysteries

First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee named Nazareth (Luke 1,26)

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

He had a message for a young woman promised in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was a descendant of King David. Her name was Mary. (Luke1,27)

Hail Mary...

Gabriel comes to MaryThe angel came to her and said, "Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you!" (Luke 1,28)

Hail Mary...

Mary was deeply troubled by the angel's message, and she wondered what his words meant. (Luke 1,29)

Hail Mary....

The angel said to her, "Don't be afraid, Mary; God has been gracious to you. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus." (Luke 1,30-31)

Hail Mary...

Mary said to the angel, "I am a virgin. How, then, can this be?" (Luke 1,34)

Hail Mary...

The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and God's power will rest upon you. For this reason the holy child will be called the Son of God.'" (Luke 1,35)

Hail Mary...

"Remember your relative Elizabeth. It is said that she cannot have children, but she herself is now six months pregnant, even though she is very old." (Luke1,36)

Hail Mary...

"For there is nothing that God cannot do." (Luke 1,37)

Hail Mary...
"I am the Lord's servant," said Mary; "may it happen to me as you have said." And the angel left her. (Luke 1,36)

Hail Mary...

Second Joyful Mystery: The Visitation

Our Father...

Soon afterwards Mary got ready and hurried off to a town in the hill country of Judea. (Luke 1,39)

Hail Mary

She went into Zechariah's house and greeted Elizabeth. (Luke 1,40)
Hail Mary

When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby moved within her. (Luke 1,41)
Hail Mary

Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and said in a loud voice, "You are the most blessed of all women..." (Luke 1,42)
Hail Mary

"...and blessed is the child you will bear!" (Luke 1,42)
Hail Mary

"Why should this great thing happen to me, that my Lord's mother comes to visit me?" (Luke 1,43)
Hail Mary

"For as soon as I heard your greeting, the baby within me jumped with gladness." (Luke 1,44)
Hail Mary

"How happy you are to believe that the Lord's message to you will come true!" (Luke 1,45)
Hail Mary

Mary said, "My heart praises the Lord; my soul is glad because of God my Savior." (Luke 1,46-47)
Hail Mary

"for he has remembered me, his lowly servant! From now on all people will call me happy." (Luke 1,48)
Hail Mary

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The Birth of Jesus

Our Father

Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of Kind David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David. He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. (Luke 2,4)
Hail Mary

She was pregnant, and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her baby. (Luke 2,6)
Hail Mary

She gave birth to her first son, wrapped in cloths and laid him in a manger -- there was no room for them to stay in the inn. (Luke 2,7)
Hail Mary

There were some shepherds in that part of the country who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. (Luke 2,8)
Hail Mary

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone over them. They were terribly afraid. (Luke2,9)
Hail Mary

But the angel said to them, "Don't be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. This very day in David's town your Savior was born -- Christ the Lord." (Luke 2, 10-12)
Hail Mary

Suddenly a great army of heaven's angels appeared with the angel, singing praises to God: "Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!" (Luke 2,13-14)
Hail Mary

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and saw the baby lying in the manger. (Luke 2,16)
Hail Mary

When the shepherds saw him, they told them what the angel had said about the child. All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said. (Luke 2, 17-18)
Hail Mary

Mary remembered all these things and thought deeply about them. (Luke 2,19)
Hail Mary

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

Our Father

A week later, when the time came for the baby to be circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name which the angel had given him before he was conceived. (Luke 2,21)
Hail Mary

The time came for Joseph and Mary to perform the ceremony of purification, as the Law of Moses commanded. So they took the child to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. (Luke 2,22)
Hail Mary

At that time there was a man named Simeon living in Jerusalem. He was a good, God-fearing man and was waiting for Israel to be save. The holy Spirit was with him. (Luke 2,25-26)
Hail Mary

Led by the Spirit, Simeon went into the Temple. When the parents brought the child Jesus into the Temple to do what the Law required, Simeon took the child in his arms and gave thanks to God. (Luke 2,27-28)
Hail Mary

"Now, Lord, you have kept your promise, and you may let your servant go in peace." (Luke 2,29)
Hail Mary

"With my own eyes I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples." (Luke 2,31)
Hail Mary

"A light to reveal your will to the Gentiles and bring glory to your people Israel." (Luke 2,32)
Hail Mary

The child's father and mother were amazed at the things Simeon said about him. (Luke 2,32)
Hail Mary

Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother, "This child is chosen by God for the destruction and salvation of many in Israel. He will be a sign from Godwhich many will speak against and so reveal their secret thoughts. And sorrow, like a sharp sword, will break your own heart." (Luke 2,34-35)
Hail Mary

When Joseph and Mary had finished all that was required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to their hometown of Nazareth in Galilee. The child grew and became strong; he was full of wisdom, and God's blessing was upon him. (Luke 2,39-40)
Hail Mary

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple

Our Father

Every year the parents of Jesus went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. When Jesus was twelve years old, they went to the festival as usual. (Luke 2,41)
Hail Mary

When the festival was over, they started back home, but the boy Jesus stayed in Jerusalem. (Luke 2,43)
Hail Mary

His parents did not know this; they thought he was with the group, so they traveled a whole day and then started looking for him among their relatives and friends. (Luke 2,44)
Hail Mary

They did not find him, so they went back to Jerusalem looking for him. (Luke 2,45)
Hail Mary

On the third day they found him in the Temple, sitting with the Jewish teachers, listening to them and asking questions. (Luke 2,46)
Hail Mary

All who heard him were amazed at his intelligent answers. (Luke 1,47)
Hail Mary

His parents were astonished when they saw him and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been terribly worried trying to find you?" (Luke 2, 48)
Hail Mary

He answered them, "Why did you have to look for me? Didn't you know that I had to be in my Father's house?" (Luke 2,49)
Hail Mary

But they did not understand his answer. (Luke 2,50)
Hail Mary

So Jesus went back with them to Nazareth, where he was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart. Jesus grew both in body and in wisdom, gaining favor with God and people. (Luke 2,51-52)
Hail Mary

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

Conclusion of the First Mystery:

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you do we cry poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, O most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement! O loving! O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray:

O God, whose only begotton Son, by his life, death, and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of Eternal Life, grand we beseech thee, that by meditation upon the mysteries of the most holy rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what it contains and obtain what it promises through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

A prayer in sickness

O Lord,
today I feel suspended
in mid-air,
in that place between heaven and earth,
caught between the joy
that comes from your love,
and the pain
that threatens to crash me down
into the dust.
Sad, joyful,
at peace and miserable
all at the same time,
and it makes me think of you,
suspended between heaven and earth,
a willing sacrifice
caught up in the web of pain
and sorrow and reproach
for the love of us all.

Today, O Lord,
I offer you up
my pain and my tears,
my joy and my thankfulness
for in this cross you have given me,
I feel in some way more united to thee,
and for that,
I offer you my thanks.

Today, O Lord,
I offer you up
my pain and tears
for those sick and afflicted,
for those without people
who remember them,
for those without knowledge
of your love and care,
and for that,
giving me this gift to offer up,
I give you my thanks.

Amen.

Mother of Sorrows

O Mother of Sorrows,
with strength from above
you stood by the Cross
sharing in the sufferings of Jesus,
and with tender care you bore him
in your arms mourning and weeping.

We praise you for your faith,
which accepted the life God planned for you.
We praise you for your hope,
which trusted that he would do
great things for you.
We praise you for your love,
in bearing, with Jesus,
the sorrows of his passion.

Holy Mary,
may we follow your example
and stand by all our children
who need comfort and love.

Mother of God,
stand by us in our trials
and care for us in our many needs.
Pray for us now
and at the hour of our death. Amen.

This is a prayer thread. If you would like to discuss theology, please do it elsewhere, thank you. God bless.

Two points:

1. I don't think John Paul II would object to the defense of Catholic teaching.

2. Praying consists of getting down on one's knees and actually praying - not posting comments on the internet about praying.

God bless you for your good intentions. I was hoping to create a quiet oasis free from bickering and theological argument where we can share prayers, and encourage each of us to pray for the holy father.

I am not posting comments about praying. I am praying, and I know I am not the only one doing it. Theological argument in this environment sometimes comes across like talking loudly in church during Adoration, it breaks the concentration and the fact that people of multiple faiths have joined in for prayer. If I ask the people who try to start arguments on prayer threads I started not to do it, I have to ask the ones who want to defend the faith the same thing, to choose another venue or start a thread to discuss that.

God bless, and thank you, and now I will get back to my prayers for the mercy of God.

Sancta Maria,
ora pro nobis.
Holy Mary,
pray for us,
your children here upon the earth,
sinful, sorrowful,
so often lost and lone.
Come to us when our hearts are heavy,
when we most need our mother,
and lead us to the fruit of your womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Sancta Dei Genetrix,
ora pro nobis.
Holy Mother of God,
who was graced to know Jesus
like no other human,
whose kind and gentle advice is
Do whatever he tells you,
pray for us
now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Mater dolorosa,
ora pro nobis.
Mother of sorrows,
You understand grief in that special way
that comes from offering up
the best and the brightest
gift of your heart,
without anger,
without curses.
Seeing your son in his sorrow and pain,
you suffered
like a woman in labor,
martyred alive
to become our mother.
Pray for us
now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Refugium peccatorum,
ora pro nobis.
Refuge of sinners,
Thank you, o sweet Mary,
You who come looking for us,
lost in the night,
like a worried mother
seeking her lost child
In this time where the twlight grows so dim,
and so much is so confusing,
we need our mother,
take us by the hand,
and bring us to the foot of the Cross,
to Jesus your son,
where we may find the true light.

O Blessed mother,
you who have wrapped your child Karol
so clearly in your mantle,
pray for him in his time of sickness.
Sancta Maria,
Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc,
et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.
