Hear ye, hear ye: Sanhedrin seeks David’s scion as king

Jews in Israel are still working and planning for a return to Jewish life as it was in the first and second temple periods. Perhaps another sign of the times, perhaps not.

As one member of the group put it, “We would have liked it to happen yesterday. But we are willing to wait until tomorrow.”

The group composed largely of Kahane sympathizers that gave itself the name Sanhedrin in October, however, met Sunday to discuss the creation of a Jewish monarchy in the State of Israel.

For the past several years a group called the Monarchists has conducted extensive research into the lineage of several families in an effort to discover who has the closest bloodline to the biblical King David – a requirement for any future Jewish king.

Rabbi Yosef Dayan from Psagot, known for his recent threats to place a death curse on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, is said to be a leading candidate to become the “king of Israel.” . . .

Will Jews begin proclaiming "Long live the king" in the near future?

According to a group of 71 Jewish scholars who met this week in the Old City of Jerusalem in the form of a modern-day Sanhedrin – a duplicate of the religious tribunal which convened during the time of the Second Temple – a coronation day is growing closer.

There hasn't been a genuine Sanhedrin in Israel for nearly 1,600 years; the last one to be proclaimed was in France, by Napoleon, for political gain. Shortly after the establishment of the State of Israel, religious affairs minister Judah Leib Maimon raised the notion of reinstituting the ancient body, to no avail.

Rabbi Yosef Dayan from Psagot, known for his recent threats to place a death curse on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, is said to be a leading candidate to become the "king of Israel."

"Dayan has the best lineage to King David," several members of the Sanhedrin told The Jerusalem Post. They say he has two documented ancient sources which draw a direct line between him and the males in his family to King David some 3,000 years ago.

"Many people can show they are descendants of King David, but they cannot show that the line is only male," one Sanhedrin member explained. "That makes Dayan the leading candidate to become king."

The Monarchists have consulted with non-Jewish experts on lineage. They concurred that, without a doubt, Dayan is a direct descendent of the House of David.

The only question now is how to establish the Jewish monarchy in spite of the presiding democratic government.

"There are two possibilities," Dayan explained. "The first is that the nation or a majority from within will want the monarchy and will uproot the presiding democratic government."

The second, more realistic option, he said, is "the one cited by Maimonides – and that is that no one will know how it will be until it happens."

Some of the other ideas discussed at the Sanhedrin meeting included the construction of an altar on the Temple Mount to be used for the Passover Offering during the upcoming holiday.

One of the ideas, members said, is to climb the Mount and build the altar within minutes and sacrifice the lamb before security forces can stop them. Another, said leading Sanhedrin member Baruch Ben-Yosef, is to pray for a tsunami-like disaster on the Mount.

"In one second, God wiped out 150,000 people," he said. "Who knows? Maybe he'll help us if we show him we are ready."

Participants also discussed Ben-Yosef's idea of reinstating the Sanhedrin's authority to announce Rosh Hodesh, the beginning of the new lunar month. "It is very important to reinstate the Sanhedrin's authority to announce the month, because it will force people to understand that God gave us the power to control the calendar and our own destiny," Ben-Yosef said.

If this guy is king, will he remove the cube from the Temple mount?

Unfortunately, he would probably also raze the churches in Jerusalem.

Jesus Christ warned these folks about following the Commandments - specifically the 6th in Matthew 5:

21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.' 22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire. 23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Yes, that's the ticket. Evolved, rational thinking at it's finest.

Although somewhat amusing, it's at times hard to watch the tortured machinations and confused behavior of those who reject their Savior. Whether it be religious Jews, secularists, anti-moralists or whoever.

So the ideas are animal sacrifice and praying for the volcano gods?

What a bunch of ignorant people.

What about this scripture passage:

Temple worship restored and abomination of desolation (Daniel 9:27; Matthew 25:15; II

Temple worship restored and abomination of desolation

This is a personal opinion based on what I've been seeing and reading:
Jesus Christ fulfilled all Messianic prophecies. Israel seems very factionized and doesn't seem to be able to resolve within their own people what is happening. If they were singular in purpose, it would mean that THE Messiah and not the Second Coming of Christ is taking place. With lots of attention, they will accomplish what needs to be done as a 'representative' (read: TV show) of what's happening. I'm not diminishing the importance but putting it in perspective.

I believe the New Jerusalem is the United States of America.

Well, volcano gods aside, animal sacrifice was a key part of Judaism prior to the Temple destruction. Rabbinic Judaism as practiced today was something of a temporary measure.

I'm nowhere near end-times obsessive, but when you start hearing about a rebuilt Temple in a restored Davidic kingdom, with (ostensibly), increasing persecution of the Church and the "full tally" of Gentile nations being reached, even I start to wonder....

When they were looking for a husband for Mary, they had the same requirements. God solved it for them when He told the Rabbi to have the young males leave their staff on the altar. Joseph was chosen the next day when his staff bloomed into flowers. JMJ

They need to call Dan Brown (Da Vinci Code). He knows who the messianic descendant of David is--one of the "Merovingians." [sarcasm]

Sorry, last night I watched the most ridiculous show on the Da Vinci Code on the History Channel. An hour and 45 minutes of one unsupported assertion after another (which frankly could have been boiled down and stated in 15 minutes), and then the last 10 minutes which basically said the whole thing was bogus.

I didn't know that. That almost sounds like Matt. 24:32. The fig tree represents the house of Judah.

May YHWH bless you inyour search for TRUTH.

The reestablishment of the Sanhedrin of old is a novelty which serious scholars must relegate to the place of modern day battlefield reenactments. As a lover of history I will follow both with attentiveness, and seek always to discern the greater historical lessons.

That being said, the dubiousness of this ridiculous exercise in futility by a contrived and arbitrary "Sanhedrin" is of no more consequence than the actions of modern battle reenactors are on the historical battles they represent.

Christ is our one sacrifice and our one monarch. For these reasons the Jewish monarchialist movement is doomed to failure and its adherents damned to eternal perdition unless they turn and embrace their saviour, the saviour of the whole world; Jesus Christ.

Of all wayward scholarships in the modernist apostasies, I mourn most for those who doubt the sufficiency of Christ. These latter day Judaizers believe that there are alternate routes to heaven. As a Christian I must disagree.

This universalist style faith is not Christianity but a type of paganism very opposed to the Church of Christ. It has seeped into the seminaries and the churches through popular seminars and best selling books which propagate its blasphemy and in so doing send the message that Christ is an unnecessary element of the Salvationary equation.

THE JERUSALEM MONARCHY

Under the judges, we understand that the Children of Israel lived in a relatively democratic confederation of republic-states. These were parochial jurisdictions not unlike the counties of the modern day, based upon the familial links of the thirteen tribal units which comprised the population Moses and Joshua delivered into the land of Canaan.

Geopolitical relations among the tribes would be a constant factor in the stratification of Israel's interactions with neighbors and domestic development.

By the time the 'monarchialist movement' had taken effect, that time not this time -led by the prophet Samuel under divine direction- , The people were prepared to be unified into a precursor of the nation-state. This national entity was quite different from the pagan kingdoms and warlordships which surrounded the young Kingdom under its first monarchy, that of King Saul.

The evolution of political culture from the city-state to the nation-state is well typified in the institution of what we may term National Israel, the Davidic Monarchy, from which current Continental European monarchies all claim direct blood descent ( a fact that in and of itself would facilitate a rather protracted 'battle royal' in the settlement of the jurisdiction of Jerusalem for the 21st century ).

Once Israel's second king, King David obtained Jerusalem, ancient monarchy of the priest-king Melchizedek, from the Jebusites, that city would occupy the heart of the people's culture and worship until the present day.

The Davidic rule there ended with King Zedekiah, whose daughters, our traditions tell us, were made wards of the prophet Jeremiah, charged by God " to pluck up and to sow ".
That the royal line of David ended up firmly embedded in the scepter'd isles of Britain is inconsequential to this study. Although being thus inconsequential this fact is by no means trivial and must be understood for any true reckoning of eschatology.

After the vacation of the line of David in Jerusalem there were contrived princehoods under Zerrubabel and the Hasmoneans, ancestors of much modern Jewish Nobility. This was about the time that the tribe of Judah returned more or less alone from captivity and the other tribes escaped to the uttermost parts of the earth by divers accounts becoming the Scythians the Celts, the Picts or a great many other early tribes. The term 'Jew' was meant to refer to this returning minority of the one tribe, not the sum national identity of Israel. As such the state was always termed Judea after the captivities.

The next rulers of the city of Jerusalem would be the Caesars as well as their vassals and tolerated rabbinists who simply led the worship culture of the temple.

Following the destruction of the city in A.D. 70, it was literally desolate for some time. The region remained sparsely populated for centuries. The Mohammedan hordes overran the Christians and Jews living there at the dawn of the Moslem age, precipitating eventually the Great Crusade ( perhaps because of the idea that Christ's second coming was being delayed by infidels possessing the Mount of Olives to which Christ would return as well as His Holy Sepulchre and the other relics ).

The First Crusade, which was essentially the only successful one, saw the establishment of the Crusader States in the liberated Holy Land. For these the See of Rome appointed hereditary monarchs, partly as rewards for dutiful services rendered.

The hereditary monarchy of the Kingdom of Jerusalem was established by the Pontiff of Rome immediately following the First Crusade and has been maintained through the centuries, in exile. Of late the exilic throne has descended to the Hapsburg family, one of the highest of all Continental, and Roman Catholic, royal families.

When the British liberated the region in 1917 under General Allenby of Armageddon, the city technically became part of the British Empire and was therefore once again under the throne of David. This development has great ramifications for the subject of eschatology. Palestine ( derived from the ancient Phillistia ), as the British termed it, the region had been Judea/Palestine now for centuries with the Mohammedans having replaced the Jewish name with the ancient name of the people of Goliath of Gath, remained a protectorate of the same after the armistice, with Britain and France splitting the whole region of the Mesopotamian and greater middle east along the lines that divide it to this day; spheres of influence which have served as absolute zones of cultural colonization for the betterment of the indigenous populations.

In an attempt to appease the Mohammedan majorities of the region the Britons, though furthering Zionism, which had continued in force since halfway through the nineteenth century based largely around the Anglo-Zionist funded railways which reopened Jerusalem to world commerce and would eventually make Israel an important strategic territory once again, a centre of commerce as in the days of King Solomon, and furthering Christian pilgrimage and settlement, allowed the appointment of a Grand Mufti. This dubious officer, kinsman to the past tyrants Sadaam Hussein and Yasser Arafat, would side with Hitler, serving as an advisor to the Third Rheich on the "Jewish Problem" .

After the declaration of the State of Israel, which would be better technically termed Judea as it is not a magical reorganization of all thirteen tribes but only of Judah, which did include Benjamin at the returnings, Jerusalem was ruled by Trans-Jordan, now Jordan, a British Zone state, and was taken by the Israeli Army in 1967 in a defensive war.

Today the contrived sanhedrin seems to be anxious to appoint a new king. As this study has shown, I hope, they would do well to recognize that there have really been no shortage of those and that today the field for the throne might be competitive at the very least. This "sanhedrin" is also only the latest in a line of Jewish councils and even other temples and monarchies in Alexandria, Septimania and all over Europe.

Also important is the realization that the Throne of David is now separate from this Jerusalem Monarchy. By my understanding; as long as the Stone of Scone is on Britain, the Throne of David is there as well. This would not be affected by the institution of a physical monarchy in present day Israel.

The Vatican, which is actually a silent leader in the present mideast peace process, professes the Crusader Kingdom Monarchy as still legitimate, which should come as no surprise since the Vatican instituted it. King Juan Carlos I, of Spain, is the present, de jure, King of Jerusalem. This fact has been misunderstood and perceived by some to be an original claim of the King's leading some unscholarly prophecy preachers to proclaim him as an anti-Christ or "one to watch".

Most importantly of all, we must recognize the boundaries drawn multi-dimensionally in the debate over the Jerusalem Monarchy. The Throne of David belongs to Christ, and the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha is the current custodian of it. He will reign on it in His Millenial Kingdom.

The place of Christ is the most important to keep in mind as these events continue to unfold. His sufficiency must never be forgotten and His atoning blood must never be forfeited for useless rites of animal sacrifice.

More of the "me me me" syndrome?

So much for leaving things for God's Will.
