Speaking of inaccurate assumptions... about probabilities:
1)The parking lot site of the theft is that of a community center in an upscale small city. It is extremely low in crime. Nothing like that has ever happened at that location before, and in broad daylight no less, according to several exercise check-in attendants who voiced their concern to me.
2)The deli where the items were dumped is 7 miles of mostly two lane winding roads from the center. These not nice 'escape highways' which were available for the thieves to take had they chosen.
3) There are many good 'private' ditches for dumping along these winding roads.
4)The deli is by far not the only parking lot in the area where the items were found. There are 20-30 restaurants, 12-15 service stations, a large shopping center, 15-20 motels, and numerous other businesses with parking lots within a 2 mile radius of the college.
5) The woman who turned my property in is not that rare in the south.
I am cognizant of all classes of logical fallacy, but this was not an example where I committed one. Prayer does not cause such an UNLIKELY confluence of events to happen. Prayer conforms the heart to God's will, it does not change events. God can ... as seen this week in the miraculous stories of survivors of the tsunami. My proposition is that God lives outside of our linear time constraints and causes or allows all events whether in or out of His Will.
It is illogical to me in the extreme to postulate a God- gene if you mean it would exclude some people from faith. If it exists, it would be in everyone. Every person is made in the image of God and with a hunger for God. That hunger manifests itself in many offbeat ways.
BTW, my comment about seeking knowledge of God was not meant as a blanket endorsement of hastily searched websites and their authors. If you found them wanting, there is the skeptic's 'The Case for Christ' written by a Chicago Tribune reporter trying to debunk his wife's faith. You see, I have no responsibility in the matter of your faith or lack of it other than to be the best witness possible. God is the only one who can change your heart (mind, emotions, will) or not.
Michael Faraday said once to a questioner that his greatest discovery was that he (Michael) was a sinner. Then the person then said, but what is your second greatest discovery. Faraday said it was that God sent a Savior.
Should be -- _are_ not nice --
I grew up with that tag line! LOL.
