For a lot of people, the Bible and mathematics are dry subjects, but not for Edwin Sherman – he believes he's found how the two fit together.
Sherman, founder of the Isaac Newton Bible Code Research Society and a professional mathematician, is convinced that the Hebrew Bible contains coded messages that are evidence of God's authorship of the Bible. His book, "Bible Code Bombshell: Compelling Scientific Evidence that God Authored the Bible," describes numerous examples of encoded phrases and sentences that are both lengthy and relevant to the text where they were found.

Well just a little scrutiny will show you the simplest codes. One such is the Hebrew word for "truth" that is found encompassing the Torah. I'm not saying that "42"is some kind of magical number. It does denote a significant underlying truth when it appears, especially in regards to the soul's sojourn as well as to Christ's ministry
"Is it Ecclesiastes that says something like "there is nothing new under the sun"... when, in fact, there is. The progress of scientific explanations of the universe is, in fact, "new under the sun"."
Solomon also tells us before he says 'there is nothing new under the sun' that "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done:
Solomon asks " Is there any thing whereof it may be said, 'See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
"There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after."
You can say these things are new cause you have no memory of these things having ever occurred. There is evidence the world over that something bigger and more intelligent than the flesh man exists.
To those who do believe there is no need for more proof, to those who do not believe there is never going to be enough proof.
I for one do not need for more proof. I see the face of GOD everywhere, I look. [ie sunrise,face of my kids,sunset,ect...]
You're probably right. Not much is accomplished. And I'm not really trying to convince anyone of anything here. I just think the subject makes for interesting discussion.
And believe it or not, I do respect the opinions of those I disagree with on this subject.
Don't count on it. G-d called Cyrus by name, and stated exactly how he would conquer Babylon over a hundred years before he was born, and how many books have you read on this amazing fact? It's a matter of history, but you'd never know it unless you were looking for it.

I agree with you Sam. The subject does make for interesting discussion. But let me share something with you. I've found that where the Bible is concerned I've gained much more insight into what it says by assuming it's correct and any problem was a lack of understanding on my part, than I ever did trying to shoe horn what it says into what I thought was correct.
Jews have always believed G-d is the Author Of The Torah and Moses is the greatest and chief of the Prophets and the Torah, both in the Written And The Oral Law and there will never be another. Today science confirms what people have believed down through the ages. Man's findings confirm the wisdom of Hashem is ahead of His Time!

You're assuming both of the previous are surely true. Obviously, the sun is a star, but are you sure E=MC^2 is correct? There are no exceptions? You are asking God to give us _today's_ science, but science, by its nature, is tentative in nature. If God said E=MC^2, it would prove God today, but disprove Him tomorrow when E=MC^2 winds up to be only a subcase.
How about this for proof:
* the Jew's cleanliness laws have only recently been re-discovered by science in the last 200 years
* The blind man at Bethsaida in Mark 8:22 was healed in two parts. After healing his eyesight, he had a condition called agnosia, which causes him to not recognize what he's seeing and see "people as trees". Jesus then healed his agnosia. Of course, we've only known about it as a medical condition in the last hundred years, since medical science has started healing blind people, too.

One in particular I think they have wrong is that the page assumes that science used to view the earth as flat, and I'm not sure of any time period where that was assumed. The one I am fairly sure about is the Job 26:7 reference, although, again, I am unsure that the article characterizes all of that day's science correctly.

I would agree that if you go looking for something mathematically, especially for PREDETIRMINED(and I emphasize PREDETIRMINED) results, you'll find them.
What the author is discovering are messages that he was not PREDETIRMINED to find that relate (almost as the aside comments or thoughts of the very maker HIMSELF) in a very close way to the the main text itself!
It reminds me of the story related about Prussian King Frederick II who asked an aide if there was proof of God's existence. The aide was said to have responded, "Sire, its in the existence of the Jews."
In the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, the answer to life, the universe, and everything was "42"!
The word of God is both plain and also full of secrets. Man is only beginning to comprehend the secrets of God.
Hebrew was the language of Eden and it will be again in The World To Come.
"Seek it like silver; search for it as for a treasure" (Proverbs 2:4).

What part of the Torah did Moses write? Any of it? All of it? None of it...?
God dictated the Written Torah to Moses. He also taught him what it all means but did not put it down on paper. Moses taught the Oral Torah to the priests, then to the prophets, then to the Men Of The Great Assembly and so forth. The chain of tradition has never been broken...
Only to those who know where their towel is.
