Mathematics bombshell: God 'confirmed in Bible'
World Net Daily ^ | December 12, 2004

For a lot of people, the Bible and mathematics are dry subjects, but not for Edwin Sherman – he believes he's found how the two fit together.

Sherman, founder of the Isaac Newton Bible Code Research Society and a professional mathematician, is convinced that the Hebrew Bible contains coded messages that are evidence of God's authorship of the Bible. His book, "Bible Code Bombshell: Compelling Scientific Evidence that God Authored the Bible," describes numerous examples of encoded phrases and sentences that are both lengthy and relevant to the text where they were found.

"These above finds took Dr. Price a very short time to locate and I have no doubt that he could find many more positive and/or slanderous ELS phrases if he thought it was required."

It isn't required. It never was.

The top men in Dr. Price's field would describe and dismiss his "finds" as nothing more than random. Whuch is all they are.

Dr. Price's finds could be produced from any book any time.

The statements of the Bible codes describe people, the pertinent dates of their lives (death etc), places and the persons connected with them historically (naturally these connections would have been made BEFORE the historical occurences) definite times and on and on...THESE are the things that "complicate" the Bible codes and put the probability numbers beyond the stratosphere.

Moreover: Many of the people investigating the bible codes (mathematicians, cryptologists)WANTED to disprove it. Many of them are deeply religious and sense the dangers of "proof". ie: what will it say, is it real--HOW do you know etc. "Proof" is only "proof". I don't think it can ever simply be Proof.

It comes down to Faith.

"Ecclesiastes is some of the greatest poetry ever written."

Yes and seems natural that it would be the case 'if' one is to actually believe in a Creator.

The concept that 'remembrance' of things of old time is removed, unleashed for me multiple questions. Yet there does seem to be a 'control' by design to which individuals are given understanding as to what depth they can see past the physical flesh world, if but only through a glimpse.

You can usually throw a set of numbers/formulas at anything and find "proof" in it.

I am reminded of this...

There is one God. There are seven days in a week.

Now then, take the year 1776.

Subtract 1 from each of the sevens. The result is ... 666!

ARRRRRRGHHH!

While I agreee with your skepticism in general

"In any event, why would you want concrete proof for the existance of God? Wouldn't that totally invalidate the concept of faith?"

Shows you don't understand the concept of faith at all. Faith, to cognitive assent, is like the difference between holding money in your hand as compared to looking at someone else's bank statement.

What if someone finds a 43rd message? Dismiss one of the messages as less significant?

How did someone descide what was a countable message in the first place?

Numerology is nonsense. It all depends on what you count and how you determine the decoding method. It's all subjectivity with the illusion of objectivity.

Perhaps so, but the fact remains that gematria is a part of the Hebrew language. Each letter has a corresponding number and to understand deeper truths in the bible, it doesn't hurt to understand that sometimes it matters. It raises a flag so that the student might want to contemplate some deeper wisdom. There's a level for children and there's a level for adults, and I suppose, beyond adult even.

Take 42 in the bible as it occurs in respect to the Messiah and to the soul. Knowing this, you're reading along, and you come to where Elisha called 2 she bears out of the wilderness and had them eat up 42 children. So hmmmm. Was Elisha an old crank? Maybe, but more likely no. So you need to start digging and figure out the deeper meaning.

Forty-two is an important number in the Bible, just like the words "Son" and "faith" and "charity" are important words in the Bible. They appear often, and when they do, they express important concepts.

Likewise, "7" is the Old Testament; "8" is the New Testament.

The New supplants the Old. The elders serve the Son. Everything in the Old Testament presages the New Testament.

"Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed." -- Romans 9:6-8

Sorry, couldn't resist..it was just sitting there, looking at me.

BTW, the Bible Code uses a system of letter occurence, to locate the hidden passages. For example, every tenth letter is used, regardless of sentence structure or paragraphs.

If a pattern emerges, the sequence is re-arranged in a 10x10 grid with every 10th letter lining up either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.

It's strange, but phrases and words, which have relational meanings seem to occur in the same grid.

Aren't we instructed to "seek and ye shall learn, ask and it shall be granted"?
