I missed it. There's a high chaff to wheat ratio in the arena of Bible code studies anyway. Maybe Quix saw the program and can comment.

I watched it..scary. If it's real.

Saw it probably some time ago if it's a rerun.
The History channel programs have been done in cooperation with the BIBLECODESDIGEST.COM folks and are of rather high quality in terms of the quality of the experts and science behind them.
People who haven't studied it out well, or thoroughly enough can rant against that statement but I still stand by it as quite valid.
Generally, I agree that there's lots of chaff in the whole field.
I do believe that it's going to improve month by month.
Certainly Drosnin et al are not worth the time, imho.
And the naysayers are worse. Some of the high powered tenured mathematician naysayers have been caught in wholesale lying and other skullduggery. That's true about the best known of the naysayers. And they certainly don't deal with the facts of the latest research well or usually at all in terms of most key factors.
Anyway--enough of my rant. Back to paper grading.
The History Channel shows are good because of the BCD folks' involvement. The BCD folks have lots of experts outside their own org as well as within whom they discuss and consult with routinely. The Hebrew scholars are multiple as are the mathematician scholars. And, there's a good diversity amongst them.
Cheers.

I just saw the show and had my wife watch it with me.
I highly recommend it for anyone with intellectual curiosity.
The issue of its veracity I leave to the statisticians. I just don't have enough information to have an opinion on that.
What I found most interesting was that the modern Rabbi commentators did not seem to understand what I would view as the most important issue that would be raised if the code was valid.
I believe if the code is real we live in a deterministic universe (i.e., the Calvinists were right).
The Rabbis were busy trying to deny this with babbling about alternative interpretations and alternative futures, free will, ability to change the future, etc. This was just an attempt to squeeze the Bible Code into standard Jewish beliefs. But it won't fly.
The Bible Code is neither evidence for or against the existence of God, again contrary to the Jewish theologians.
It would support, however, the view of some cosmologists that we live in a "Matrix" type universe, i.e., a universe within a universe. The "Code" would simply be a description of the events programmed into our matrix. In order for the code to work, however, there would have to be specific actions that we could not take or the predictions would be wrong. Therefore we would not have "free will" as we commonly understand the term.
We would instead be subject to the constraints created by the "supercomputer" which created our universe.
The reason the God question would remain moot is because this scenario begs the issue of how the supercomputer was created.

The whole bible code scam is simply more non-creating speech/sin trying to make sense of God as Word as if God weren't Himself as Word and in particular the Word they are trying to manipulate. Those who have not been born again as real, literal new creation in Jesus Christ will always and forever seek some new 'insight' and new 'understanding' of supposed former 'secret info' in the Bible. Their lie/non-creating speech/sin all along has been that God's Word is not God Himself as Word, but the Bible mere 'holy information' that 'everyone' is 'responsible' to act on whenever they happen to understand it.
Satan keeps on coming up with more 'secret info' that must be understood by his slaves all the time in order to increase their religious/emotional activites and feed them bits and widgets of pride therein. But Satan never really reveals anything at all except things a former anonited cherub would know. He speaks non-creation and creates nothing with his speech. The more 'discoveries' Satan makes in God as Word as if God weren't Word, the more desperate Satan becomes in his own speech and the more gullible fallen men become over time to new 'startling revelations' (exclamation point, exclamation point, exclamation point...) therein.
John 8:42-49 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen

It is living witchcraft in the guise of static knowledge and seduces you into dullness of hearing God the more it guides you toward some new 'secret'.

I watched it last year. I don't know that I believe it or not, however it's rather interesting. I was pleased that one code predicted Saddam's fall.
To: concretebob
Well, saw it just now...pretty interesting. Now, do I believe it? I don't know. If, and this is a very big if, that these codes exist, and this isn't some crack job hocus pocus, then it is pretty scary. To think, all these events are in the bible. And the predictions, the End of Days, could be a scary thing. But again, this is assuming that this is real rather then tricks to scare the easily fooled.

I would think a great test for the code would be to search for Disney characters--Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, the names of Snow White's dwarves, etc.
I believe if you found them that would prove the code is just the inevitable result of chance and looking for results.
Of course to listen to some folks around here you would think it would be evidence of God's interest in our raising of children. :-)

One does not need the "Bible Codes" to know Armageddon is coming soon.
It's in clear text; it is not encrypted.

The signs Christ gave His diciples to look for, when they asked, included the phrase, "All that is hidden is made known."
In my mind, the discovery of anything that adds to the cumlative knowledge is merely a reinforcement of Christ's words.
I have to wonder if God may have had a hand in the way the sentences were structured, so that the code could be found.
A comprehensive reading of the entire Book of Enoch will present you with a Bible story best left out of Sunday School, because it shows God's wrath in a context that left the Archangels wondering if the humans would survive.
Raphael was so concerned, he went to Michael and asked him if maybe they should say something to the Boss.
Michael refused to get involved, telling Raphael, in effect, "I ain't getting in the middle of this; this is between God and the rebels, and any intervention on my part might be misunderstood."
Why was this particular Book left out of the original text?
Because it had too much information?
God told Enoch to write down everything that was happening.
That wasn't so Enoch could practise his penmanship. It was to ensure that future generations would understand what would happen to them if they pulled the same stuff the rebels pulled.
Any information culled from the Bible is God's Word, put there by God, for a purpose.
Anything which confirms my beliefs, or reinforces my Faith, is, in my mind, a gift from God.
