The Catholic church is its own worst enemy. The fastest to spread Christian values through the country would be to evangalize the catholics into protestant churchs.

This is a fine piece. As an Orthodox Christian, I must say that it seems to me absolutely appropriate to refuse communion to one who persists in grave sin. In the Orthodox Church, marriage outside the Church, sexual relations outside of marrige, etc. will result in a denial of the sacraments. I've seen it done a number of times, quietly, though in public. I guess I am a bit mistified that the Vatican felt it was necessary to enact discipline on this matter so recently, though. This has always been the teaching of the Church. Frankly, the trepedation expressed during the recent political campaign on the part of many RC hierarchs disturbed me greatly, especially since it is the Eucharist and the community of Laity, clergy and hierarchy within it which defines the Church.
