I don't like the idea of your Patriarch being "subject" to the Pope

Again ... poor choice of words on my part.

Amen! The Hierarchy are still in that mode, to the detriment of the Church and the Faithful.
Very Sad.

My reading of Scripture and observations of man, religion and God in our era leave me with an intense conclusion that God hates RELIGION in all it's forms.

City of God St. Augustine

"For He is the fountain of our happiness, He the end of all our desires. Being attached to Him, or rather let me say, re-attached,-for we had detached ourselves and lost hold of Him,-being, I say, re-attached to Him...

Augustin here remarks, in a clause that cannot be given in English, that the word religio is derived from religere.-So Cicero, De Nat. Deor. ii. 28.

Accr'd to St. Augustine, "Religion" comes from relegere 'to re-elect'.

James 1:26 And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue but deceiving his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

27 Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
