Madonna, the Jewish mystic?
The pop star arrived in the Holy Land on Wednesday on a spiritual quest, including visits to the graves of revered rabbinical sages, and Israel was abuzz with excitement over the presence of a major star.
However, some were perplexed by the raunchy diva's interest in a particularly esoteric side of Judaism, and rabbis said she had no business studying holy texts.
I am sick of liberal, aerie fairy famous people using and manipulating religion. They use it as an accessory like botox or little dogs in $10 000 Luis Vitton bags. This is terribly insensitive and blasphemous to all religions. The only reason they take on these little known or less mainstream faiths is because very few people know about them and they are therefore cool. Im sure that if Catholicism were smaller than it is, stars would be falling over eachother to be the first to sign up. It is sad and pathetic. What is even worse is the fans who follow their idols into any religion without any conviction for, or understanding of, what they entail. I can bet anyone who reads this that by the end of the year Madonna will have found some other belief to taint. It is ridiculous. Belief and faith in something is not a fad and NOT something you can chop and change.

Yes, but Mel doesn't flaunt his beliefs for popularity or as a "cool" factor.
I didn't know Marla Maples was going too. I know a woman into the Kabbalah and it has weirded her out, or she was just plain weird to begin with.
I am so tired of these cosmopolitan celebrities going on Oprah with each new fad or "spiritual" awakening they have.
One day they cry out against gun control, the next they are in a foreign country flanked by security guards with fully automatic weapons. I guess women who sell their promiscuity for a living need such guns for protection! Assault rifles are only appropriate for "important" celebrities, but not for morally grounded working poor people in the middle of the wilderness surrounded by bears and felons running from warrants.
Are you referring to "Esther"?
Oh, I forgot. "Esther." She is no longer Italian, she is now a Jew because she has given herself a Jewish name! Does she have any idea how many people are laughing at her latest trip? Thankfully, real Jews consider her to be a joke. I am interested in what Jews here think of all of this, and if they can give a little background on the Kabbalah and if, when and where it fits into Judaism. Is it referred to anywhere in the Torah or Talmud?
Kabbalah is less than 100 yearsw old, there's your clue. Its basically just Judaism mixed with Buddhism and Hinduism. "New Age" Catholicism.
I'm not Jewish, but this is a desecration, in my opinion.
Whatever Madonna touches becomes desecrated, defiled. Madonna could profane a whorehouse!

Psst! Its "Esther." One Jew commented that she might be welcome if she changed her ways. Wasn't she french kissing Brittney Spears on stage not long ago?
Ouch!
I assume she will be staying on the Palestinian side of the tracks.
NO, she won't be on the Palestinian side of the tracks. She really thinks she's a Jew now.
