Was the American Revolution a Biblically Justified Act?

It wasn't mentioned in the bible.

Therefore, the answer is yes.

Good question, and I'm afraid, one that won't be considered seriously.

I do not think that God cares for rebellion any more than anarchy and allows any government at all grudgingly. (1Samuel chapter 8)

Canada didn't rebel and is really its own country today. Same with the civil war; other countries ended slavery without bloodshed.

Civil disobedience is onlly acceptable if the government explicitly compels you to disobey God.

Ping. David Barton's the man. He's from Aledo, Tx and may go that way Sat. to house hunt and uncle-hunt, as lost track of him when I got sick.

Q. How is war divided?

By those seeking a false peace and those seeking a true Biblical peace

war, is at times justified if those conditions are met.

my two cents

No, though some may have used the Bible to justify it.

The Idea of the State was not completely developed in Biblical times, it was not completely developed in 1776, and it is not completely developed now. However, progress is being made as the centuries roll by, especially since the Magna Carta. But, even in 1800 Roman Law was still being criticized. We have a ways to go and a lot of experiments to perform before we own this Idea outright.
