Who among use cannot clearly see how this applies to us today?

We ignore the laws of God, polute His Sabbaths, and we wonder why we have the problems of today. Didn't He tell us " I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror " in Leviticus 26:16 ?

Weren't we told in Deuteronomy 28:20 what would become of us for all the wickedness we do by forsaking GOD? We have been warned!!!!

Yes, we have been warned. But have done little. 40 million dead children in the last 30 years due to abortion, makes the current horror in Beslan, Russia look tame by comparison.

I tried to pinpoint our current downfall and a lot things happened within about 10 years of each other.

1) Abortion and the Feminist Movement

2) Graphic Violence and Sex on television/movies

3) The Great Society Program

What exactly is the qualifier in verse 12 that would cause the actions in verse 15? "12 Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:".

How in the world does that still apply to us today? And since when was that not put simply to the Jews of that time period WHO WERE LIVING UNDER THE LAW?? Were you planning on just throwing out the New Testament? If you are such a believer in the law, I do hope you are adhering to everything that was listed under the law, including animal sacrifice.

Romans 3:19-31
19 ¶ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Colossians 2:10-17
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 ¶ And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 ¶ Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Those who see the true source of our problems today are few. People tend to compartmentalize. The scourge of terrorism is one thing. Abortion is something separate. The break down of the traditional family is yet a different issue.

I see our current problems very much in Old Testament terms. The story of the Jewish people as related in this part of the Bible is essentially one of their continual wandering from and coming back to God and His law. As punishment for their sins, they were periodically given over to marauding, barbaric pagans and attackers who inflicted all manner of indignities on them, drove them into exile and captivity and plundered their cities.

I see the current rise of radical Islam very much in these terms. A newly pagan and godless west which flouts God's laws, has been placed at the mercy of these invading barbarians. Nukes and bullets by themselves will not free us of this scourge, contrary to popular opinion on these boards.

Do we perhaps vainly believe that God will bestow upon us the gift of living in peace while we continue to terrorize the unborn? Can we beg God for his aid when our hands are covered in the blood of our brothers?

This is a spiritual issue and we will learn this lesson one way or another.
